Laine tied for the league in goals with 6. Kid is a ridiculous sniper. Like Ovechkin and Stamkos good. Just an unreal shot.

We have our first head coach firing...
The Panthers fired Gallant on Sunday night, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press. The move was made after the Panthers' 3-2 loss at Carolina -- one that dropped Florida to 11-10-1 this season, good for only 10th in the Eastern Conference.
Tom Rowe will take over as coach
Rowe was promoted to general manager before the season, and coached the Panthers' AHL teams in San Antonio and Portland, Maine in recent years.
Rowe becomes the Panthers' 14th coach, and the fifth person to be behind the Florida bench in the last five years.

Re: nhl news and notes
The firing of the Panther coach is strange. Isn't he the guy that steered the team back in to the right direction?
Panthers fire coach Gallant, cite philosophical differences

Re: nhl news and notes
Gerard Gallant didn’t think Florida was tough enough. Did it cost him his job?
The boss wanted more speed. The coach wanted more toughness. The Panthers lose to Carolina 3-2, putting them at 11-10-1. And they fire the coach and put in the GM who used to coach in Maine? Ummm. Ok. Who's running that franchise?
And in other news the Sabres have only won 7 games and GMTM reiterates his support for the floundering Bylsma and his handling of the young players.

Re: nhl news and notes
Aparwnetly the GM is a big metrics guy and wants the team coached that way... and the coach is a coach.

Barclays Center to pull out of Islanders lease...
After two years and countless complaints, Brooklyn’s Barclays Center has concluded it’s no longer worth it to host the New York Islanders.
The arena, which is already home to the NBA’s Nets and one of the world’s top-grossing concert venues, would make more money without the National Hockey League team, according to people familiar with the facility’s financials.
As of earlier this month, a financial projection shared with potential investors showed the Islanders won’t contribute any revenue after the 2018-19 season -- a clear signal that the team won’t play there, the people said.
Barclays Center wouldn’t speak to the future of the Islanders. Tim Leiweke, co-founder of Oak View Group, which has been advising the hockey team in talks with the arena, declined to comment, as did a spokesman for Islanders owners Jonathan Ledecky and Scott Malkin.
The team’s tenure in Brooklyn has been rocky from the start. Average attendance has fallen to 12,828, third-worst in the NHL. Fans have complained about poor sight lines, and players say the ice is sub-par.
