Sam Reinhart's time in Buffalo is up. The Sabres announced this morning they are sending the second overall draft pick back to Kootenay of the Western Hockey League. The 18-year-old had no goals and one assist during his nine-game tryout.

Team Canada is thrilled right now.. Reinhart will either play with McDavid on Canadas 1st line or center the 2nd line at the WJC

just wasnt ready yet. another year in the WHL will hopefully have him ready next year. this was the right move.

that said, TSN was talking a few days ago how its time the NHL and CHL amend their agreement for AHL development.

Kootenay is awful this year..Reinhart may be traded to another WHL team that is a contender and needs a established WHL player like Reinhart

and while reinhart may not learn much at the WHL level this season, playing in a hyper competitive tournament with the best players of your age group in the world will help him develop.

And this years tournament is in Montreal/Toronto.. Factor in Canada hasn't won gold in I think 5 years.. The pressure on McDavid and Reinhart will be enormous

Good. Get him away from Nolan and away from a league that he is not physically ready for

Good move by the GM. Was hard to do. Or would have been for, say, Regier. But it was the right move.

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who watched the games.

Absolutely. But he doesn't need to be at his peak to play, imo.

I agree... but he is so slight.

he needs 20 pounds of functional muscle added to his frame at a minimum.

Can he add that by next camp?

    Re: Reinhart back to Juniors.

If Reinhart did not add any muscle this summer id have to ask why not.. McDavid added 10 pounds of muscle to his frame.. Does Reinhart maybe feel it's not necessary because of his cerebral game.. In any case the Sabres need to be on his ass about his..Give him the tools to get going in the right direction on getting bigger

He could start by doing one pull up.

Who's out for the entire season-though it's not related to the no pullups he did at the combine.

    By contrast...

In his first month as a professional in North America, Pastrnak, the CCM/AHL Rookie of the Month for October. recorded two goals and seven assists for nine points, along with a plus-8 rating, in seven games for Providence.

The youngest player on an AHL roster this season, Pastrnak tallied two assists in his debut on Oct. 10, helping Providence to a 2-1 overtime win over St. John’s. He scored his first AHL goal on Oct. 11 at Portland, and registered a goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime loss at Worcester on Oct. 18. Pastrnak closed out the month with a three-assist effort in the Bruins’ 5-0 win at Manchester on Oct. 25.

Through Sunday’s games, Pastrnak leads all AHL rookies with 10 points (three goals, seven assists) and a plus-9 rating. The 18-year-old native of Havirov, Czech Republic, was a first-round pick (25th overall) by Boston in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Pastrnak played the last two years with Sodertalje in the Swedish Hockey League, and represented the Czech Republic in both the U-18 and U-20 IIHF World Junior Championships last season.

In recognition of his achievement, Pastrnak will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bruins home game.
