    grigo turning heads in AHL

    http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sab...y-with-amerks/

its so good to see grigo playing in the AHL. i was thinking and hoping that playing in the AHL with regular top 6 minutes and developing properly, that this kid would figure it out and use the league as a stepping stone. so far this season, so good.

but his attitude has changed significantly as well. a HUGE turn around from his childish holdout after his demotion to the QMJHL last season.

its early, but hes showing so far he gets it, and he just continues to grow, get stronger, and compete hard.

he clearly wasn't ready for the NHL last year. Hopefully they didn't ruin him.

He's not even first in scoring for the Amerks. Or second. Or third. He's fifth.

    1. Chad Ruhwedel - 9 pts
    2. Joel Armia - 8
    3. Phil Varone - 8
    4. Johan Larsson - 8
    5. Mikhail Grigorenko - 7
    6. Tim Schaller - 7

A guy has to be first in scoring go be impressing? First season of AHL hockey, nearly a point per game, and that's your complaint?

You seem to be nitpicking. 7 points in 8 games for a guy some left for dead while working on the small things in the game and changing his entitled attitude to a team guy, and you point out his standing on team leaders statistics. Seems silly.

Hes turning heads with his complete 180.

7 points in 9 games is promising.

Varone, Larsson and Ruhwedel are in the last year of their contracts, I believe, smallish and probably never going to amount to much in the NHL. Schaller is going to make it, if ever, based on his defensive play.

If Armia and Grigorenko bust, it will dampen the rebuild considerably. They can't stay comfortable on the farm. They absolutely have to be on the team no later than the start of next season.
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

i agree, and i think armia and grigo will be up at some point this season. that said, grigo could start next year in the AHL. hes still a pup. armia seems to picking up the north american game quickly now. last year he scuffled, but this season, he seems to get it.
