    Mid-Season Award-Biggest Surprise

What part of the first eight games has surprised you the most?

    Beating Chicago?
    Being 5-3?
    Preston Brown?

    Something/somebody else?

I'll throw out the play of the special teams as mine...a lot better than last season, and I didn't expect it.

Kyle Orton and the Bills turning into a team that runs to keep defenses honest.

The Bills actually managing to win games that they have no business winning.
Usually the Bills lost games that they had no business losing.

The Bills are a very good football team.

I didn't expect them to be this good.

Orton has played about as well as I figured he would and when you get a QB that doesn't overthrow guys by 10 yards, you find out you have some really good WRS.
Turns out Chicago really sucks, That's a surprise on the NFL level, not Bills.
Bradham and Brown playing so well in a pleasant surprise.
But, after last year, my biggest surprise is that the Bills special teams is playing pretty good.

Orton's play I expected. What I didn't expect was Marrone getting him in to play. Very happy for that. No one should be surprised at what Orton has done. He is playing exactly like he has in the past.

My biggest surprise: Jerry Hughes. Surprised & happy he is still playing at such a high level.

As I eat crow, I'll say the play of Marcell Dareus. I didn't think he had it in him. The man is playing possessed. At least for Hughes, he had last year as precedent. Carpenter had last year, too. Orton has played well throughout his career, despite the 500 record. But Marcell, with the off the field ****, being overweight and out of shape and being late to practice etc., I thought he was in bust country. I stand joyfully corrected.

Preston Brown playing as much as he has and as well as he has is a pretty big surprise to me. I didn't think he'd play much this year and when he got the start in week 1 at Chicago I thought he looked a little in over his head.

Being 3-1 on the road is pretty surprising too.

A lot of surprises. Schwartz>Pettine, Orton, special teams. Being 5-3 is the biggest to me.

    Re: Mid-Season Award-Biggest Surprise

There ought to be separate categories for 2014 drafted players. Kuoandijo is the disappointment. Preston Brown the surprise. Watkins the stud is doing what he's expected to (and not disappointing Bills fans as so many others have).
