he's smooth with the puck. great possession. he did this thing behind his own net on a powerplay with ND trying to get him to cough it up, and he effortlessly toyed with the 2 guys. he always had control and then took off.
i don't see blazing speed, or at least he didn't showcase it, but he looks confident on his skates. an odd statement, i know, as most D1 kids are "confident" skaters. But to me, it means he seems to be skating in a way where the game is moving much slower and he just sees it better than other guys on the ice. While other guys have to race to points and react quickly, he's anticipated it and got there early. it's hard to explain, but it just seems like everyone is sweating, and he's playing with kids.
if he's the consolation prize for last place, i can't wait to see mcdavid.
