Did the Sabres make an offer for Cam Talbot?

• I’m told that there was a team that offered two second-round picks for Cam Talbot and that didn’t close the deal. So (general manager Glen) Sather and (assistant GM) Jeff Gorton and management types of the New York Rangers are still on a bit of a fishing expedition.
  
  The Rangers recognize that he’s a valuable piece. He’s got another year left at $1.45 million. He’s proven that he can be an excellent 1A goaltender. He came in long term in place of Henrik Lundqvist last season, who had some injury issues, obviously. And he proved that it appears he’s ready to be a starter.
  
  

• Teams that have at least two second round draft picks this year: Sabres, Coyotes, Oilers, Devils, Blue Jackets, Flames and Senators. Of those, the Sabres, Oilers and Flames are rumored to be looking for a goalie. Dreger didn’t mention if both picks were for this year or a combination of this year and next.

Nevertheless the Rangers turned that down.

Somebody on twitter said it was the sabres. 31 and 51 would have been a sold offer for him, maybe a bit to much IMHO. If rather turned that down he's an idiot. It's a buyer's market - 10 goalies to be had and 4 teams needing goalies.

Yes - but lots of goalies available via trade and UFA. Keep the two seconds, sign Niemi for 3 years and use #31 for Blackwood or Samsonov (if he lasts) to develop a young goalie

From what I've read, it wasn't the sabres. The sabres are in on lack though.

Don't know want to trade #31 for Lack, would be okay with #51+ another small piece for him. Someone is going to fall out of the 1st and be great value at #31
