During the Chiefs’ game at Oakland last Thursday night, Chiefs Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry felt some chest discomfort.

After a weekend of testing, team doctors and those at the University of Kansas Hospital determined Berry has a mass on the right side of his chest, and the leading consideration is that Berry has lymphoma, a cancer of the immune system, Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder said Monday.

Berry, of Fairburn, Ga., went to Atlanta on Monday and will have further evaluation at Emory University Hospital by Christopher Flowers, a doctor who specializes in lymphoma.

Saw this. Sad. Early diagnoses lead to better outcomes. Hopefully this is the case.

Such a sad story for a young player with such great talent. Watched him play in HS and you knew then he was destined for great things.

Hope that he can beat this. Such a tough opponent in itself. Good luck Eric!

    Cardinals pregrame today...

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...special-shirts

A couple of weeks ago, Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry was placed on the non-football illness list—ending his season—after it was discovered that he had a mass in his chest. The Chiefs honored their teammate by wearing special shirts before last week's matchup against the Denver Broncos, which was the first game after the news about Berry broke.

On Sunday, the Arizona Cardinals showed their support for the Chiefs player before the two teams met on the field.
