    what does orton do well

well this will end up being a funny thread.

but in all seriousness to any and all bills fans who think kyle orton should be on this roster in 2015.

please and i mean please explain to me what he does well. and exactly why he is the answer at qb. why shouldnt we be looking for a different starter?

what does he bring that someone else cannot?

    THIS SHOULD BE FUN!!!

Hold a clipboard and come in for a game or two of relief.

He's a good backup but not meant to be a starter.

The Bills know that they need a lot better than Orton at the qb position. No point in wasting time discussing this loser.

He doesn't do anything particularly well.

He still should be on the roster in 2015 though, not because of his own merit but because a lack of other options. No one who will be available is any better, and we'd have to use cap space and/or draft picks that we can't spare to get someone else.

Re: what does orton do well

I dont blame this on Orton. We were only in this game bc of Orton. His horrible misfires were just quick plays that i see Manning miss all the time. Every Nfl QB misses about 3-5 easy passes a game. sometimes they are caught but still ugly passes. His deep ball is the only gripe i have since they are always a foot or 2 to far. I dont know if anyone has played QB but this is the same type of pressure that created EJs 2 worst games ever. TB and Pit. This game was identical to those games yet Orton made plays. Another thing, any time we go no huddle or Orton clearly changes the play, its a big gain. All ortons bad plays come on one read where the D is already knowing the play call. like that inside screen to Woods. Everyones gonna look at all 22 and find at least 3 wide open players. Buts its a one read design play. Same play that Tuel threw a pick 6 bc of. Orton called his own plays for that whole 4th Quarter drive. on 3rd and one we huddled and threw a designed quick pass, thats a coach playcall. Ortons best when you tell him to coach the team himself.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Re: what does orton do well

I'm looking for a guy to show up who can be consistent and win. This season Orton was the best option. Now it's no longer this season and the question really is about EJ Manuel. He wasn't ready to play this year. I wish someone would explain to me why we don't have the QB position loaded up considering it's the constant thorn in our sides ... and it's a huge thorn with a nasty infection too. However, we can carry a kick off specialist who blows up the most critical kicks -- both the ones going down the field and onside. If you have a roster spot on this team for a ****ing kick off specialist to run plays that pretty much don't matter any more the ****er better have some killer skill that can change a game.

So I would say we need to hire every single available QB and draft one with every pick we have ... but get rid of the kickoff specialists and add a QB to the roster. Fire the idiot that needs a kickoff specialist too he's an idiot.

Ok, so then the question becomes "is there someone better that we can get for $5 mil or less?"

Unfortunately I don't think there is.

i actually think this years FA class has some talent. not top 10 talent but better then 28th qbr talent.

now im not a GM and of course id have to watch tons of film to truly evaluate.

but sanchez , jake locker , matt moore, ryan mallett. matt shaub

but on a quick look all would be upgrades over orton and for relatively cheap

Re: what does orton do well

Moore is no better than thad was. He has energy but no real skill.

Mallet is a bad player overall

Locker is tennessees version of JP

Shaub is hated in Oakland as the backup without takimg a snap, with a 3-12 rookie favored over him. So ya

Sanchez is identical to Orton in what he can and cant do so there is that
