This is the embankment in front of my house- it drops off up to 5 feet and extends the entire front of the property- it's 120 feet long and nothing but flowers- Dazydog has enoughfresh flowers off the bank alone to make 1 fresh cut flower arrangement for the dinner table each week.

Here is the cool flagpole I got on my birthday after 9/11- a Bills flag will go up when training camp starts until the season is over.

HEY! Go hijack someone else's thread! Here's the flagpole garden that was put in this year- and the Dozer statue saluting the flag. Notice the red/white/blue flower theme......

Here is a 25 foot long wildflower garden put in 3 years ago on the side of our lot. We live on a corner lot, so we have 125 feet of frontage, and 175 feet down the side that are bordering the street.

    - everything except the speeding tickets.....:chief:

Moving on to the back yard, here is my herb garden. I just yanked out a ton of stuff so it's a bit empty. In there is spearmint, peppermint, lemon balm, oregano, French "freedom" Thyme, tarrigon, summer savoy, chives, lavender, and some apple mint. I use some of the herbs to make home made salad dressing. Others are dried in the dehydrator for home made herbal teas and potpurri.

You can't tell from the photo, but there is a lovely path that goes through it made of the really large chunks of cedar/ pine bark mulch.

*Slaps palm on forehead* UUUgghhh....You will never learn.....

Moving on, here is the main veggie garden. we have 9 planting boxes that :dozer: built 12 X 3 and 8 inches high. In the aisles we put down newspaper to supress weeds and placed straw on top of it. :dozer: then buried our old fenceposts from the stockade fence we replaced 2 summers ago. they are 4"x4 "and make a great frame around the garden.

In the garden are a variety of peppers (Chili, Jalapeno, green bell ), cherry and regular tomatoes, scallions, broccoli, a couple varieties of peas, and a variety of beans (green, yellow, and purple)

Also in there is a rhubarb plant, spinach, and a couple varieties of lettuce. Enough to provide 4-5 salads for dinner each week. The mounds you might see are zuccini, summer squash, and cucumbers.

Notice way in the back the really cool workstation I built Dazydog- it has 2 workbenches (legs sawed off to accomodate verticle challenged gardner) arranged in an L shape, has a tool closet for shovels and supplies, and the red barn shed. It comes in handy when we slaughter our own beef and pigs...when we catch them in the backyard. Nothing like fresh steaks cut up with a circular saw...

The hard part is luring the bastards into the backyard.

    Don't encourage him people...

Here's a shot of the split rail fence put in to keep the beasts out. We have a vine called clematis with very nice purple flowers on it .

Waaaay in the back is the dog kennel, with roof and 2 dog houses in it, and the stone patio :dozer: put in years ago.

Here's a nice shot of the lattice gate - there are two that :dozer: built at each end. Unfortunatly, The dumb dog can leap over the gate and clear it by 2 feet. That's why you might notice the ugly white snowfencing at the top that can come down and deter the mutts.

He used to climb out of the yard, with a 6 foot fence around it!The new fence doesn't have a flat cap on it, it has the sharper pointed top to it now...keeps the puppy in....
