Dallas Cowboys Used Horse Medicine To Win Super Bowls Against The Bills

Teams and their players are willing to do just about anything for a competitive advantage.

Anything for an edge over your opponent.

I thought this was the NFL, not the CIA.

Casillas noted that “it wasn’t on the list” of substances banned by the NFL, although he also seemed to acknowledge that it was improper for Cowboys players to obtain a prescription from a veterinarian and then use the substance on humans.

I've used DMSO before for some tendonitis problems that was keeping me from working out. It works, but not nearly as well as a couple Advil, IMO.

60 Minutes did an expose on DMSO in the middle 1970s. It's not new. At all. Athletes are using it still. It's aids in the delivery through the skin in the topical prescription NSAID, PENNSAID which you can get from your doctor.

I dunno...that o-line and Emmitt might qualify as horses.

As long as there is competition, there will be cheating, that isn't the issue. Being forced to suffer a penalty appropriate to the transgression when caught is, and the consistent willingness to completely disregard the integrity of the game over an extended period of time is grounds for extremely harsh justice. Kraft, Belichick and Brady have been complicit this entire century and should suffer the consequences. Anything less than a nuclear option then the league should just remove 'integrity of the game' from their lexicon.

The bills used plenty of drugs during the super bowl years. Just not productive ones.

Did you feel the urge to winnie and have a craving for hay afterwards?

LOL. No. You can actually buy it on Amazon.

I do know that back in the early 90's, that a few enterprising bodybuilders, strength athletes, probably football players used to crush up and extract animal pellets that were oral anabolic steroids. They could easily get it from a veterinarian. This was mixed with DMSO so that they could transdermally get it in their system. That's probably where the infamy associated with DMSO originally came from.

On it's own, it works as a NSAID, but really isn't super effective.

That's touted as an arthritis cure all.

As Swiper said, it's a transdermal delivery system. It works by itself on sore or arthritic joints and I've used it in combination with corticostaroids as opposed to going to the doctor and getting a shot. Just because it's used on horses means nothing.

The Cowboys should have to forfeit all those Super Bowls during that time period. Meaning, the Bills are now back to back Super Bowl winners.

If memory serves, QB Roman Gabriel was a proponent.

Back in my working days, my analytical lab used it for certain infrared spectroscopy investigations of unknown substances. Because of the transdermal efficacy, it was kept in a locked cabinet...it will rapidly transmit toxins into the system. It saddens me that it is available "over the counter."
