All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
This is heading in a 'nothing to see here' direction, the difference in BB's attitude between the pressers is a little unsettling.
Kind of seems that way.
A month or two after the SB, Goodell's going to hold a short press conference and say:
Swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus, causing a disturbance in the atmospheric pressure inside the Patriots footballs.
Now, if everyone would look right here, I need to administer an eye test.
I just hope reporters and the Press don't let up and change the subject to the SB, Just keep hammering questions at Belicheat and Brady on deflate-gate on press row this week!

It will probably get to the point where they state...
"does anyone have a question NOT related to the inflation of footballs?"
silence for about 30 seconds..
"um, what color socks will the Pats be wearing on game day?"
And you have to wonder...if the Pats win...will they have fake fan cheering noise piped in the stadium?
The NFL forgot the main component of any business model, the customer.

Than who or what is? Are there any other reasonable explanations that have any actual validity?
It should send up red flags that Belicheat had a presser and spent some time explaining how he "looked" into how the game balls are prepped. I think it points to a few things:
1. They tampered with them after the refs checked them. Using something like an air needle attached to a syringe would be a quick we to take out a known volume of air. You could literally do most of the game balls in couple of minutes this way.
2. They did something to temporarily raise the pressure in the balls. Something like heated air or possible added some helium which might escape the bladder quicker)
3. The refs measured with some faulty equipment or really didn't check the balls with a pressure gauge. They just did a quick squeeze test and said passed them
4. They switched out the balls somehow with some old game balls that had either forged marks or some old game balls from a previous game that the same official previously marked.
5. The refs are complicit in this.
Of course they're guilty, just like the Chargers were guilty in 2012 of using Stick Um.
It'll be swept under the rug and the Pats will pay a fine of 20k, like the Chargers did, now maybe they'll get 20k per ball but what's 220k to that organization?
I bet they filled them with hot air right before turning them over to the refs. When they are checked, they are fine. Then science takes over and deflates them more than normal. The reason the colts balls were still in range was because they filled them with much cooler air (room temp). So the Pats cheated without having to physically use a pin to deflate them. The investigation should center around what happens to them right before turning them over to the refs and where and how they are originally filled for the game.
All this temperature stuff is just nonsense. For a start room temp isn't 75 degrees, it's nearer 70. Secondly, if it's going to happen with one set of balls, it's going to happen with the other, and there was nothing wrong with the Colts balls.
Making assumptions about how temperature change will affect the balls, is all well and good, but makes no allowance whatsoever, for what is occurring with those balls when they are in play. Being handled is going to affect the way in which heat loss occurs. And not in a manner that would accelerate it.
Bottom line is that either the balls weren't checked properly to begin with, or somebody messed with them from the Patriots side after they were checked. It isn't rocket science. What does appear to be difficult, is obtaining proof of how, and when, this occurred, and who did it. The only other thing that can be said, is there should be no doubt that Brady is complicit in this happening, but proving it will be a lot more difficult. Anyone one who believe otherwise, needs to move away from lala land, and come back to the real world.
To avoid this in the future, the NFL should inflate every game ball 15 min prior to kickoff, on the field. The balls should be kept outside at least an hour prior to kickoff so the air inside is the same outside. Then Marsha can't cheat anymore and he'll retire.
