Just do a skills challenge and be done with it.
Diehard BillGator... best of both worlds

Nothing pro about it anymore.
When you take out the guys who are injured, the guys in the superbowl and the guys who lost the championship games and don't want to play, you get down to like the 4th or 5th all star. I love watching the best of what's left!!

I think they should try to bring in more diversity, trick plays, double points for hook and ladders, or if a WR throws a pass try and make things more loose and fun.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I think all of the all-star games, with baseball being the exception, should be shot and pissed on.
Boy that Andy Dalton is a regular gunslinger.
Fiat justitia ruat caelum. Noli timere. Laus Deo.
They should motivate them by giving the winning team $100,000 a player and the losing team nothing.
It was fun to see those three white Bills helmets lined up in a row on the d-line with Watt at the other end.

I am all for having a first and second all proteam and even making a big issue of it with having an honors banquet and the like. However, what they have done to the probowl in recent years is pure Garbage.
Here are some ideas off the top of my head for improving it if we have to have it.
1) Nix the stupid team X v. team Y format and return to AFC v. NFC all stars
2) Return it to the week after the Superbowl
3) Make it meaningful, if people are going to risk injury make it mean something. How about the team with worst record from the winning conference gets the top draft pick
4) Have a best of today v. a best of tomorrow format. Insurance probably makes this prohibitively costly and untenable but have a team of NFL all stars v. Collegiate all stars (junior and senior level only because we want people who will actually more likely than not have a career in the NFL)
or just have a draft and a skills competition
lastly, kinda nice, a what if game of flag football where the best of today take on in a flag or two hand touch game a team of the best from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s.
