Re: It's Time To Say Goodbye To Fred Jackson

Well, I have the Bills- Packers game rewind still on my DVR & watched it today.

Game rewind is a 30 minute recap of the game for those that don't watch it.

The Bills defense was on TV for 20 of those 30 minutes.

Orton completed 4 passes, one of which was a 40 yd pass play to Bryce Brown, most of the yds were YAC.

That was his highlight of the game.

Dixon had a couple nice runs, but fumbled the ball which he did recover.

Fred Jackson was the standout RB in that game, picking up first downs time & again.

I am happy with all the Bills RB's, ESPECIALLY Fred. I don't want to waste a draft pick on that position this year.

As Whaley said, Brown is essentially the Bills 4th rnd pick this year.

i think we're getting an amazing deal paying fred just 2.6mil; seems like a steal.

why would you cut an A+ team leader and great guy like fred to save 2.6mil when we have like 30mil free cap space? seems sorta stupid to me.
My wife told me that if I had a dollar for every girl who found me unattractive, girls would find me VERY attractive.

        MY WIFE SAID THAT!!!

He's not your primary back, but if you need blood and gristle, and Roman does, he gets those yards still. I'm not sure what happens next year, but that stiff arm play happened last season, and I didn't see anyone else get yards with that passion yet.
$2.6 million is not chump change. And if you were to ask what the going rate is for a 34 year old halfback whose Y/C dipped well below 4 this year, then you wouldn't get half that.

And that's fine. If you want to pay Fred that, I understand and I can get behind it. But don't pretend he's still going to get out there and rock out 15+ carries a game at 34 years old, it's not a realistic belief. He's being paid that because he's a great locker room guy.

Fred will leave on his terms and can still contribute. 3rd and short or 1st and goal, he's money with some actual blocking in front of him.

You don't cut your heart and soul.

If he doesn't retire a Buffalo Bill, it will be a huge black eye on the organization, IMO.

Who does the Bills have to replace his blitz pick up and pass blocking abilities? His hands coming out of the backfield?
He was fielding punts or kicks last year for cirssakes. That should prove how valuable the Bills think Jackson is.

We havent replaced him with anyone so as of this posting he's our best TE. Besides, I'd rather keep him as a no2 TE if we found a no.1.

Come up with a better one and perhaps they will. But anyone named Brown, Dixon or Spiller is not part of the answer.

Fyi... I think we should draft a RB in the 2nd and sign a vet free agent like Gore.
