Corey pronman ESPN Insider on WGR this morning..Pronman interview starts around 21:43

" The gap between McDavid and Eichel is a mild one"
"Getting a McDavid or Eichel would be a franchise altering development"
"Marner is a bit better prospect than Dylan Strome..His skill set is a bit more unique"
"50% chance Noah Hanifan goes 3rd overall"

In that Pronman interview he thinks the likelihood that Eichel will play in the NHL in 2015/2016 is "99%"

Mikko Rantenen is my new obsession should we trade back up into the top 10.

Shoots left handed but plays off wing. He is 6'3" or 4" and 200+.

Might not have elite, elite hands but works the walls, can handle the puck well for man his size, and had a great WJCs. When he fills in physically he's going to be a first line right winger. His game translates extremely well into the North American game.

Eichel, Kane and Rantenen... that's a lot of size and a trio of long reaches.

Risto and whoever on the backend... That's just a big ****ing lineup that can skate.

    Re: 2015 Draft Thread

Mitchell Marner with 2 goals and 4 assists tonight as London defeats Kitchener 10-6.. Marner has 12 points in 3 playoff games I would say Marner would be the best 4th overall pick in along time it is incredible how good the Top 10 is in this upcoming draft.. I wasn't sure about the Leafs taking Marner after taking the smallish Nylander last year but Im rethinking that Marner would be the best talent the Leafs have drafted since well a hell of a along time even better than Morgan Rielly who went 5th overall in 2012

If the Sabres end up picking 3rd I dont think it is a no brainer they take Noah Hanifan.. It would depend on how they feel about Zad and regardless Murray has to give Marner a long look

    Re: 2015 Draft Thread

I cant provide a link but this morning Mike Morreale of NHL.com said on the Howard Simon show this morning if he had a choice of Jack Eichel or Noah Hanifan AND Dylan Strome he would prefer Jack Eichel alone... Other musings he had.. The 2016 draft at the top is a good one but likely it will be another 10 years before a caliber of player comes along as good as McEichel

Why does zad factor in? At 19, he looks pretty ok most nights in the big leagues. He's going to be a good one, but not as good as risto. If you can build an amazing defense, you do it.

Because for the most part Zads handlers forced the Sabres to play him in the NHL this year. And with his tardiness issues its possible Murray is annoyed with him ... I should have also included Pysyk if they feel confident Zadorov and Pysyk wlll be top 4 defensemen then perhaps they would pass on Hanifan and take Marner @3

i certainly think zad has some growing up to do, on and off the ice. but i read your comment as if drafting hanifan makes zad expendable. it would, but keeping zad in the fold to build a dominating defense would be ideal.

hanifan/risto as pairing one and pysyk/zadorov as pairing two would be something special.... now if only the sabres hadnt given up on that myers guy so soon....

I would trade Sam Reinhart, our 2 first round picks this year, our 2nd round pick this year and our 1st round pick next year for Eichel.

i would offer the two firsts and a prospect, but not reinhart. mccabe or something, who projects to be a top 4 d-man.

Craig Buttons putting Noah Hanifan 12th.. wow I could see maybe 5th but no lower than that..Buttons has Matthew Barzal at 18 which is way too low Travis Konecny at 24 which is way too low.. if the Leafs or Sabres either one got barzal or konecny with there 2 1st round pick they would be getting tremendous value

The only issue i have with central scouting is Lawson Crouse should not be ahead of Mitchell Marner

    Re: 2015 Draft Thread

It's just that deep of a draft. If somehow the sabres fell out of the top 2, it's not like they'd be getting a scrub at 3. They'd get a future pillar to build with still.

    Bogo not top 4?

Zad has a 2 cent head... not what u want in a defensemen in any league.

I view him as a tradeable asset at this point.

And this was where we disagree. I see zad as a kid who needs to develop. not many 19 year old kids can play in the league. i dont see attitude as static. He will learn and adjust.
