    2015 Draft Thread

Not to duplicate discussions ongoing, but Heres a thread for any and everything related to upcoming 2015 NHL draft. Discuss prospects, trades, team needs, player crushes... whatever!

    to get the puck skipping...

I've seen a recent quote of Murray talking about trading our 2 other 1st round picks that we got via trades. Apparently he's looking for prospects or brand few NHL players who may be a little further along in their development in exchange.

Assuming he's not able to do that, I would like to see him try and get a pair of picks in the 12-17 range. Depending on where the Isles and Blues finish in the playoffs we may already have one, but as of now it's looking like mid to high 20s for both of those picks. Picks in the range really should help to round out 2nd and 3rd line quality depth.

Realizing I'm reading only what I can find, watching tidbits of actual play, and am lucky to catch a full game, here's a couple of players I think the Sabres wouldn't hurt themselves by targeting...

If the Sabres could trade up into the 12-15 range it would be very good value if they ended up with Matthew Barzal or Travis Konecny..Especially Barzal who has Top 5 talent but has been hurt most of the season.. However if they take Eichel No.2 Murray probably would think he doesn't need another center like Barzal or Konecny so a winger with size like Lawson Crouse would be good to get between 12th and 15th pick

They need goal scorers... not sure Crouse is that at the NHL level.

i dont know if i agree with that if edmonton wins the lottery. theyve already expressed interest in trading that pick.

i also wonder if the oilers, should they take mcdavid or eichel, will offer up RNH or the likes.

oh, and i wouldnt mind seeing the sabres use their first second rounder on one of these guys:

i personally like blackwood, but i admit, my knowledge of them is very limited. still, the sabres can not continue to pass on blue chip goalie prospects and expect to build a completely rounded out team without some luck.

    heres something else:

    look at 20.

    http://thehockeywriters.com/the-next...raft-rankings/

6'5 d-man. i know the sabres are rich in their own end, but it drops off after mccabe and pysyk. wouldnt be a bad pick should he be around later in the first.

Not a bad idea... never can have enough big solid defensemen.

Sabres could also use some wingers. Rich down the middle but need a few wingers.

Center, d-men. Some centers can move to wing. Maybe a little d-depth after McCabe and pysyk. They need a few wings and a blue chip goalie prospect.

Interesting he has Marner ahead of Hanifan.. Not completely crazy though Marner has been pushing hard for the 3rd spot the last little while

my question, regarding marner, is if he can replicate the success in the bigs. (obviously not his high PPG)

He is small but has great vision anticipation and lateral movement.. He is a better version than Willie Nylander in that Marner has better intangibles..

For those who think buffalo will slip out of the Mceichel spots.

The Otters’ top center, of course, is McDavid, the once-in-a-generation talent who has a slew of NHL teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, fielding less-than stellar lineups these days to increase their low odds of drafting him.

Mitchell Marner is off to a great start to the OHL playoffs.. 5 goals and one assist in 2 games as London leads Kitchener 2-0
