We need to shorten the bench to 10 guys and one rental goalie, Mikey could make a good goalie for 22 games.

You think he rather stay on a team where he could be the starter, Or would he be happy to leave and be a #2??

All jokes aside, It's has to be a concern that all of these FA want to bolt,Rebuild or not.

I was aiming towards his comment about Grigs getting hurt as a good thing.

Remember, It's a lotto system, The NHL picks the winner...And that's why I hate the system, It allows the NHL to help build franchises.
Murray was on HH on WGR550 on Monday...
    On Neuvirth:
If here after deadline, will reach out for a deal. Haven't reached out yet.

So he still might deal him.

    Not necessarily.

Perhaps a 3 year tank is the brilliant strategy he has in mind.

Goalies are hard to come by. The Sabres don't have a lot of talent in the pipeline that is NHL ready. Neuvirth has proven he can play at a high level.

Besides, after this season, the 2016 draft is kinda weak.

Otherwise a 3 year tank would be acceptable right?

Ummm, there's 2 generational players in this draft and we look to be able to get one of them. McDavid is a guess but Jack is assured of we stay the course.

That's taking it a little to far, Problem with that position, Is can they do it on a consistent basis, The NHL is a wash with guys who looked like Patrick Hassek and then fell off the earth.

And a month is not long enough to say he has PROVEN, Just like Cam Talbot, He's not proved he can be "The Guy"..Some Rangers fans think he's the second coming, He's not...LOL

But the Sabres do not have anything to loose, Or a better option at the moment.

He worth more to the Sabres, Then a 3rd round pick or mid level prospect he would bring in return.

I like his fluidity and talent level. I think giving him more starts is the way to evaluation him. He looks to be swimming. But his career numbers look good too.

Re: Well Grigs could be done for the season

if he can leave at end of season, i think you deal him again as a rental and let him know you would like to discuss free agency with him at the end of hte year.

the problem with signing neuvirth today is that he probably wants a longer term, and we want some flexibility. we have a few goaltenders in the pipeline, we will have to find another to legitamately back him up next year. so we probably want him for 2-3 years and see how he survives that. what happens if we go 5 years and he really was just having a good run?

I think finishing dead last ends this year and that between free agency and the draft, we get into the standard "let's make a run for hte 8 spot" next year. That being said, i don't think we are serious contenders for 2 more years or so as our prospects develop, play in the NHL and then gel as a unit.

Unless McDavid helps us score 75 extra goals (including assists) & we have a goalie that's reasonably good.
