All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Is it safe to assume that the Bills are getting a higher pick back from the Vikings than what they are giving up for the privilege of taking Cassel's contract off of the Vikings books?
apparently not, we gave them a 5th and a 7th for Cassel and a 6th.

Not really. See post #41 above. Or what Kiko just wrote . . . posted same time.
I'm actually fine with this. Cassel had his best seasons under Charlie Weis, who used a run heavy, play action offense to set up the pass. That's right there in Roman land.
They aren't meaning to have a 45 pass attempts per game gunslinging passing offense. Cassel is adequate for what they intend, as interim starter/bridge/backup, whatever.
So we made our draft position worse in a draft where we already lacked picks and took on nearly $5 million against the cap for Cassell?
Wtf?
Evidently OBD views Cassel as an adequate vet qb. I'm not crazy about it, but there's not really anyone out there who is likely available that is all that good.
I think overall the moves are intriguing. I am optimistic. It certainly isn't the usual m.o.
Sorry everything is making you as unhappy as usual.
Wow, of all the qb's that have been considered and discussed, I don't remember anyone mentioning Cassel. I'm not really a fan of this, but here's hoping EJ just steps up and becomes the qb we need. He's still our best chance at this point.

It's not about me. It's about winning football games. Is the difference between Cassell and one of the FA QB's worth the extra cap hit AND swapping a 5th for 6th?
I fail to see how it is.
If we signed Cassell as an FA for $3 million or less, I wouldn't be thrilled but I would understand due to the lack of available QB's. But he's not so much better than the other options that it was worth giving up that much for him.

OH NO WE SPENT HALF OF OUR AVAILABLE CAP SPACE ON TWO OF OUR BIGGEST NEEDS BOOO HOOO BOOO HOOOO.
Would you rather they spent it on a punter and long snapper?
What is the big deal about that?
We spent way too much to do it and it's going to kill our ability to meet other needs. Qb and rb are useless without an OL. We need to fix ours and have severely hampered our ability to do it with these moves.
apparently not, we gave them a 5th and a 7th for Cassel and a 6th.
And a valuable 5th round pick it is. After flushing millions down the toilet in buying WR Mike Williams, BUF got TB's pick. Mind, it was the #1 pick in the 5th round. But now it seems, that valuable commodity is gone.
