Murray vision on what Sabres will look like for next season

He defines current core as; Gionta, Moulson, Gorges, Foligno, Girgs, Risto, Zads, Weber and said he's probably leaving someone out.

He also singled out the following players to be key parts of the core/team next year.

-Expects Kane to come in and play a top 3 role. (not sure if that means one of the 3 best players or three best forwards or just top line)

-Ennis to play center or wing in a top 6 role

-Girgs, depending on what they do, will play center or wing. But is definitely in top 6 role

    - Hopes Reinhart is ready and hopes our pick this spring is ready. But if they're not this is a great time for the kids in the minors to audition for a spot.

    - Said its great opportunity for the guys up right now in the NHL to battle for a future here. Its gives him a better idea of what they can do as opposed to trying to "guess" based on their play in the AHL. Also can they adapt to different roles in the NHL than the ones they played in the AHL? They were top 6 in AHL but might be bottom 6 in NHL. Can the move up and down the lineup and be effective? He wants to see if they can.

    - Further comments on Reinhart; the team has two development coaches in constant contact with him. Reinhart has told the Sabres he is doing what they've asked of him. He is doing the individual work he needs to. He has a huge summer coming. If he can add 5-7lbs of muscles this summer he would be a completely different hockey player. Murray said strength is the only thing he has to improve.

i think next years team will have its lumps, but will be better. could see them drafting outside the top 5 but not top 10.

    Unlike Yard's accurate illustration.

id be completely fine with that, but between arizona going full tank, toronto doing the same, and no one knows what to expect out of edmonton, any improvement could bump them out of the top 5. im thinking they finish just outside the top 5. fine by me, they get another high prospect to go along with the wealth they already have.

we will have to see what murray has up his sleeve. mathew collier of WGR thinks murray will spend this summer to accelerate the rebuild process to become more competitive next season. but its a two way street. guys have to want to come to buffalo, and right now, thats a tough sell. once the kids start developing more, it wont be, but now?
