These sports have been deliberately changed to be "star-centered" so to pretend that stars aren't necessary and worth tanking for is just false. In the NFL you absolutely have to have a superb QB, and in the NHL/NBA you absolutely have to have top studs in your lineup. They convoluted the rules this way and create masturbatory commercials etc about these stars, so nobody should be surprised. There is zero incentive to not tank if your team isn't close to a spot.

One can't fire a coach because their goalies seem to always play great and they are at risk of not finishing last.
I have no problem trading guys in last year of contract in a rebuild but the guys on the ice need to play to win and so does the coach. It is wrong for an owner or GM to ask otherwise by firing the coach or asking them not to try.
Personally, I feel Arizona and Toronto are hurting the integrity of the league a lot more than Buffalo. Arizona traded away their top two players including Yandle who is in his prime and not on last year of contract in order to tank. To tank by trading away players in prime and not in last year of contract because they are good players is worse than what Buffalo is doing. Arizona can't even score goals and have 3 goals in last 5 games.
Toronto I feel is the worst of all because they are not even putting in any effort. Buffalo may not have talent but the players are at least trying to win. Can't say that about Toronto. I have never seen a professional team not try like the Leafs are doing.

You do what's best for the organization, Nolan needs to get in line and get to losing now or get the ax.
After the trade deadline Nolan told Lindbach now is your chance to prove to everyone you can play, And now's your chance to make them eat crow.
He also told the guys this is your platform to show the rest of the NHL what you can do, You may not get signed here, But you may get a job somewhere.
Don't let this chance pass you by.

Nolan is going to end up becoming one of the most hated men in the history of Buffalo sports.
What's ironic about that is his career could be viewed by some as being akin to your typical WNY... a victim of circumstances bigger than them, and when he tried to stand up for himself multiple times throughout his career, the man kept him down.
how many WNYers would love to show the man up?
Teddy is about to do exactly that.
for as much as I want McEichel, I am rooting for Ted. I think he's a great coach.
Ted needs to go, give him a ticket out of town now.
