I was skeptical. You were a big proponent of bringing him to BUF, and you were right.
And just as I was right about Spikes, I will be proven right about Clay as well.

I watch all the Fins games because they are on local TV & Clay was a player I coveted for the Bills.

If you can't find a role for Spikes in your scheme, your scheme sucks.

Spikes was crucial to our improvement in run support and I don't need to see a rerun of our "can't get off the field" D from 2 seasons ago.

There is a role for Spikes in this scheme, it's just not the role he wants.

With teams playing more 3-4 WR sets.........Spikes will play like 30% of the defensive snaps all season.

If he wants to come back, bring him back. The Bills could do a lot worse. Spikes for 2 downs is better than 85% of the LBs out there, IMO

Brandon Spikes is welcome on any team, anywhere.
He was as important to the UF defense as Timmy was to the offense.
What a leader and teammate... I was so happy he became a Buffalo guy. (And Percy too!!)
I'm even happier he fell in love with Buffalo.

Dougie Whalez, bring Spikes home, and put the cherry on your off season pre-draft masterpiece.
Diehard BillGator... best of both worlds

Spikes signed very late with us last year in the FA process. I think he's looking for what he got last year - 3+ million but may have to settle for around 2. At 2, I think it's a no brainer.

If the Bills could get Spikes at $2 Mill per, I would like to see him signed to a multi year contract.

I'd like Spikes back also, lobbied hard for him prior to last season, but that means putting Brown or Bradham back on the bench, which I would be OK with.

I would be much more excited about the upcoming season, and probably the other moves this off season, if we were looking forward to a second year of the wide 9 with this personnel and bringing back Spikes. The defensive switch-back has really put a damper on my enthusiasm, I just don't see it working out as well as some do.

I have no doubt you will be pleasantly surprised at how well the Bills defense plays Rat.

Re: Brandon Spikes likely not coming back...

    I know everyone likes Spikes...

But after watching him I'm not so sure I'd be benching Bradham or Brown for him. He also got lost a few times out there and every player looked great when the front four was getting in there.

Re: Brandon Spikes likely not coming back...

I think Spikes is just one of those players that helps a team with more than just his play.

His presence, attitude, intensity and toughness are HUGE for a young LB corps.

    He should be brought back.

Can someone put up a Billboard please?

Yeah even if he comes back, Bradham and Brown are still going to get the majority of snaps.

Dumb. I think Spikes played great. Can't have enough good players on a team.

Re: Brandon Spikes likely not coming back...

man if they can get spikes back to play on running downs this defense could be the best the bills ever had. might be anyway but if you can have the best run defender in the game for running plays you gotta try and do that

Spikes signed with us on March 14, 2014 three days into free agency. It might have felt like a long time but it wasn't.
