Don't be surprised if we still see Polian here after this season once he is inducted in the Hall of Fame this summer.

Perhaps not as a GM, but rather a VP of Football role.

    Pegula trusts him.

Well, thank God the Polian deal did fall apart.

Otherwise we could be stuck with Marrone & not have Whaley & Rex.

I didn't say Polian would have been great for the team. It just show how thin the ice under Whaley is.

whaley essentially gets graded at the end of this season. his offensive weakness has been masked by good defense. so he gets credit for one and gets hit for the other.

the miss on QB isn't entirely his fault. it was a bad class that they had to go into. and they sidestepped the land mine that was geno smith.

if they aren't better at the end of this year, the team is sadly at a point of being dismantled. lots of expensive contracts and if the production isn't there, then they actually have to get to the bottom to be able to draft a QB that is ready down.

williams is a much more athletic version of dixon and great on special teams like dixon, so thats probably who gets cut
Dixon was a Greg Roman 49er. Don't count on him being cut.

                  HELP! HELP!

This is only Whaley's second draft as GM. After his first draft, the Bills had their first winning season in like ten years.

You can just as easily ask when does Whaley get some credit.

You are an idiot if you don't give these things some time. This year will tell us a lot, but this team has gone nowhere but up since Whaley became GM. I don't think that's very disputable, either.
It's so ****ing funny to see one of the self-proclaimed voices of reason give credit to Whaley for 9-7 over the head coach. It's the easy (and stupid perhaps) pov to take swings at the ex-head coach. MAYBE he was the one who knew what he was doing and everyone else was clueless. Namely Whaley. YOU don't know. Schwartz was quiet on the topic. If the Bills don't reach 9-7 then some of you idiots have a lot of back-pedaling to do.

                  Marrone actually coached the players.

Whaley gave you EJ Manuel (failure), Kuoandijo (failure), Richardson (failure), and sold the farm to give you Watkins. If he's not at least suspect as GM, then you don't have a clue.

Well. Whaley & Schwartz had MUCH more to do with 9-7 than Marrone did.

I think the football world agrees with that since the best job Marrone could get was OL coach of the Jags, maybe the worst run team in the NFL.

Ask Goodwin who Marrone also refused to play.

Rex is saying Goodwin has shown the ability to be a GOOD WR.

And NOBODY is perfect including Whaley, but he is a MUCH BETTER GM than most.
I'm not sure Marrone was the problem with Williams. If he is so good, why is he unsigned?

                            Because of NFL rules.

After the first game is played, a team can sign Mike without worrying about any guaranteed money.

I think teams are worried about Williams behavior, not his ability to play.

We just signed a guy that was suspended basically a year for bullying his team-mate and Greg Hardy was signed after choke slamming his girl on a pile of guns. If he was good, he would have a contract.

Well, I'll toss my thought out here....they wouldn't have been thinking about handing over the keys to a "czar" if they had faith in their young, well prepped GM. I think Whaley was near gone too and his saving grace was being willing to cater to Ryan's plan.

In any case Whaley should be accountable after this year. If he's a useful arm of Ryan and it works, great. If it doesn't work, he's either a tool of the marquee head coach, or a not good enough GM.

There's something to be said for the perfect marriage of GM and HC, when one is the driving force and the other complements it. I don't have a clue if this is one yet, but Pegulas won't shuck their brand new shiny Ryan over Whaley if it doesn't work well.
