    When does Whaley get accountability....

I'm going on record to say that Whaley hasn't been that terrible as a GM. Obviously the McCoy deal and the Hughes acquisition were pretty nice. With that said he's made some pretty bad decisions as well. Screwing up a draft pick isn't half as bad as trading a pick for a guy who doesn't make your roster.

Can anyone explain to me why we gave away a 4th for Williams who never saw the field and another forth for Brown who looks like he's getting an early exit from this team. Two forth rounders...and BTW..one of them is in 2016 if I'm not mistaken. I'm also a firm believer that Marrone was the one who had a nutty about EJ and was the only reason we got Kyle Orton, which whether you like or not, is the reason we went 9-7. I'm confident we would have been 7-9 or worse without him.

My point is that not even the media has challenged him on some of these decisions.

mike williams was a risk, not really all that bothered by it... i like bryce brown, i look at him as a young back with size and speed... u need 3-4 rbs now.

whaley and nix got us to 9-7, and beat an awesome gb team. never saw that happening in 2010, as the roster was quite frankly pathetic...

whaley will be judged on if the bills continue to win every year. simple as that.

the only reason this team hasnt broke out like the chargers did under nix was because we havent got a qb yet.

i think 11-5 is a real possibility with cassel as the game manager like he was in ne/kc

If Brown is on the team and plays than I agree.

williams is a much more athletic version of dixon and great on special teams like dixon, so thats probably who gets cut

As long as the team is more talented than the year before, he gets a pass.

That was easy enough this year because he finally got to use the cheque book. Next year he'll get the credit card, so the roster probably improves again.

But eventually he's got to build a roster that can win the division.

Marrone was the reason Mike Williams did not have a great year last year.

Nobody can make a play from the bench.

Ask Goodwin who Marrone also refused to play.

Rex is saying Goodwin has shown the ability to be a GOOD WR.

And NOBODY is perfect including Whaley, but he is a MUCH BETTER GM than most.

Whaley gets Accountability the second they start losing. He's the only holdover from the last regieme thats in an important position with the Bills, if they start losing he will be scrutinized and pushed out.

Personally I dont have a problem with any of the moves he's made. Some have been questionable, but ill take a GM that makes us complain about being aggressive and taking risks that might not pay off instead of the old way which was us complaining about management not doing enough

Re: When does Whaley get accountability....

Lol, he's supposed to be "held accountable" a few days after the draft? Those knee-jerk ass-wipes online are the measuring stick?

    HELP! HELP!

This is only Whaley's second draft as GM. After his first draft, the Bills had their first winning season in like ten years.

You can just as easily ask when does Whaley get some credit.

You are an idiot if you don't give these things some time. This year will tell us a lot, but this team has gone nowhere but up since Whaley became GM. I don't think that's very disputable, either.

Re: When does Whaley get accountability....

If the Bills take a big step backwards this year (I do not think they will), I could see Whaley fired after this year. They won't be firing Rex.

The issue will no doubt be the starting QB and Pegula may not trust Whaley to select that new QB.

Otherwise, Whaley is doing quite well right now and has a bright future in Buffalo.

Whaley is on thin ice. He wouldn't still be with the Bills if the Polian deal hadn't fallen apart.

Polian not coming back was the best thing that could have happened for the Bills, IMO.

Don't be surprised if we still see Polian here after this season once he is inducted in the Hall of Fame this summer.

Perhaps not as a GM, but rather a VP of Football role.

    Pegula trusts him.

Well, thank God the Polian deal did fall apart.

Otherwise we could be stuck with Marrone & not have Whaley & Rex.

I didn't say Polian would have been great for the team. It just show how thin the ice under Whaley is.

Re: When does Whaley get accountability....

whaley essentially gets graded at the end of this season. his offensive weakness has been masked by good defense. so he gets credit for one and gets hit for the other.

the miss on QB isn't entirely his fault. it was a bad class that they had to go into. and they sidestepped the land mine that was geno smith.

if they aren't better at the end of this year, the team is sadly at a point of being dismantled. lots of expensive contracts and if the production isn't there, then they actually have to get to the bottom to be able to draft a QB that is ready down.
