i think this is really hard to figure out. if babcock has the fire, detroit has to be out because it will be hard to keep them going to the playoffs as the talent thins out. he'll be coaching a team that "tanks" or does what other aged or failed teams have done. and that's a season he would have to waste personally.
difference between toronto and buffalo seem negligible. as a buffalo fan, i think we have the better pool, but that's biased as i don't really know the leafs like i know the sabres.
i don't expect to win babcock, and if we don't get him, it's not the worst thing. part of me thinks, a young guy with something to prove may be just as good as an old guy who may be losing the fire himself.
I really think, and I could be wrong, but the detroit media seems to be turning on babcock. Today, the freep (detroit free press) published a columm about how the lineup for babcock isn't as big as he thought and this might all be an ego boost for babcock.
For a guy who is supposedly loved in "hockeytown," seems odd the press isn't showering praise on him. Maybe they know something we dont?

Yup. And I think that's what most people expected. But detroit is going to lose blashill in the process.
theres probably no better AHL coach out there. but he wouldnt be hired until after grand rapids is eliminated, and they just reached the western conference finals.
Source familiar tells me Mike Babcock down to Buffalo and Detroit, confidently predicts Buffalo's big money will be choice. Toronto is out.

Coaching source says Mike Babcock likes the fact that Tim Murray isn't a daily micro-manager and is often scouting rather than with team.

This was not to say that Ken Holland is a micro-manager. It's just to say that Babcock knows situation he'd be going to and likes it.
