Cutting Chris Williams and signing Mathis would be a huge upgrade.
He is 33 years old so nothing more than a 2 year contract makes sense.
It would probably take $5M a year with almost all of it guaranteed.
Let Incognito and Miller fight for the remaining Guard position.

Mathis did want a new contract and was making $5.5M this year and $6M the following year, but perhaps it wasn't the amount so much as that none of it was guaranteed. Perhaps $10M over the same 2 years would be enough if it was all guaranteed.Originally Posted by Topas

Evan Mathis was our top graded OG from 2011-13, and was 2nd last year in just 9 games. Best OG in the game now available.

true but no money is no money. unless they decide to make more moves on the top of the roster or change philosophy and start deferring cap, they just wont have the money
