    ROR: 8 years - 64 million

So. This is apparently the contract ROR wants. He is 24 years old which will pit him at 32 when the proposed deal ends. I don't believe this deal is unreasonable, especially when the cap continues to grow. He can sign it Tuesday right? Get it done.

    Thoughts?

Might as well spend the money now when you have it (and plenty of cap of room)...if he plays as expected, it's only going to go higher.

Just give it to him. You don't make that trade then risk losing him over a few million bucks.

I like the deal and the fact Murray envisions him as a poor mans Toews. I just wish he could score more but maybe the best is yet to come. Other players rave about the guy so there must be something to him.

Don't care what the scribes or fans think. They are usually wrong. I'll watch him myself.

Not a bad haul for a guy who has never scored 30 goals in a season and only one with more than 20.

that would concern me if ANYONE was scoring these days. but when the leading points guy in the league leads the league with 30 goals and 80 points then i think we need to adjust down our expectations. Heck Crosby had 28 goals this year.

BTW: the league REALLY needs to do something about hockey turning into soccer on ice.

He was 2nd in the league in even strength goals last year and has outstanding puck possession numbers. He's tough, big and plays with incredible tenacity. He is a bonafide first line star in this league. Don't get your panties in a bunch about the contract.

Yep - make it cap friendly at the end when you have to sign the kids to their first big contract

So what are thinking? $10M per year for the first 3 years and only $6M per year for the last 3 years?

Got to get to $64M over 8 years some how.

Which is also one of Eichel's greatest strengths, and it's the opposite of what we've been watching for the past few years.

I can't wait for the season top start. It's going to totally scrub the tank from my memory.

I've seen him play more than anyone here. I just don't think he's worth being paid per year, the 12th highest player in the league. I know scoring is down, but it hasn't been his entire career where he's been holding out and only caring about money and really no producing for the cash he wants. Just my opinion after having watched his entire career.

Good thing you're not the one making decisions then.

    Re: ROR: 8 years - 64 million

I think most of the money in ROR's deal, as per the News, is in signing bonuses; he's only getting a base salary of $1M/yr.
