Yep just saw this. Supposedly Pysyk played the left side most of the year in Rochester and they think Risto can play either side. Cody had twice the points and twice the hits as Oduya last year but got a bit of a negative rap as he didn't fit too well in Nashville. He also plays major PP minutes (Oduya doesn't) and PK minutes. I imagine the same offer that we gave the JO would get it done - 3/$15m, though who knows - maybe he signs with PIT for the Stanley cup opp

heard that franson's knock is that he's not fast enough for a league that's emphasising speed. Thoughts? i haven't seen franson play much.
His skating is average at best. Solid PP/PK guy, led all defenseman in hits last year. Good 2nd pairing guy. I suppose the skating is the reason he's still a free agent 2 weeks after it opened
Supposedly he's meeting with Buffalo today

With the Sabres' vaunted skating coach, he'll be doing triple Lutzes in about a week....

Pat Malloy. But I just learned that. I thought Dawn was still there (figure skater). Go figure.

I'd imagine the sabres get him unless someone jumps in.
A two year deal... this would be a good depth signing. Power play specialist... 3rd pairing guy...

Defenseman Cody Franson will sign a two-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, TSN’s Bob McKenzie reported Wednesday. It is worth $6.6 million.
The 28-year-old unrestricted free agent had seven goals and 29 assists in 78 games last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Nashville Predators.
Nashville acquired Franson from Toronto with center Mike Santorelli on Feb. 15 in a trade for a first-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, forward Olli Jokinen and forward prospect Brendan Leipsic.
The Predators decided early in the offseason to not re-sign Franson, who they picked in the third round (No. 79) of the 2005 NHL Draft.

Man...the Preds throw draft picks around at the deadline like it's nobody's business.
Franson!
Done deal.
Cody Franson's two-year deal with BUF is now a done deal.

AT the beginning of Free Agency Franson and his agent thought he would get a $25 million 5 year deal
Still need a top pairing guy to put with Risto.
