he wanted Sabres to stay on MSG... and whenever the subject came up or he was asked the question about the Sabres starting up their own network he would answer the questions but he would never give a definate answer. I remember him saying when the Pegula's bought the Sabres and he was on WGR550 Howard Simon Show a caller called in and asked him a question like now that Pegula has bought the Sabres is it possible to get a Sports Network like Empire Sports back and Ted Black's answer was always "The Sabres are in a contract with MSG and we will abide by that contract" or we would "need to get sponsors and advertising to get our own channel up and running. The Sabres deal with MSG has two more seasons to run. According to sources, the team will get a $10 million rights fee in the contract’s final season and keep all advertising revenue, which could approach another $3-$5 million annually. MSG gets its money from subscriber fees from cable, satellite services and FiOS. The Sabres are the most attractive sports popularity for MSG subscribers here and in Rochester.
First in with ... let's watch wagoncircler's head explode over this news.

Can't wait to see how he one up's the locker room rug.
Good. The more work he has to do on the financial side of things, the less time he has to **** around with the Bills roster. Do the Bisons need a new accountant too?
Puke. Absolutely puke.
on the bright side... I now have reason to root for Tim Murray and his Aspergers driven personality. Get him Timmy... don't let Brandon turn you into the head scout type roll. You're better than that... and gosh darnit... people like you.

Brandon’s duties for the Sabres will be the same as they are for the Bills. He’ll oversee all business operations, reporting directly to the Pegulas, while leaving the hockey decisions to General Manager Tim Murray, who also will report directly to the Pegulas. That, too, is identical to the Bills’ setup, with GM Doug Whaley and coach Rex Ryan running football and reporting directly to the Pegulas.

just look at it this way who would you rather have in the front office Russ Brandon OR Larry Quinn (who is now on the Buffalo Schools school board into the ground like he did with the Sabres) I'll take Brandon

“Fortunately, there are a lot of NHLers that are former NFL guys, like John Collins (Chief Operating Officer) and Keith Wachtel (Executive VP for Global Partnerships) and Dave Proper (Executive VP of Media Distribution and Strategy). So I know a lot of NHL guys already. So, I think that part of it will be relatively easy for me on that front, but it’s time to go back to school and brush up on a few things. I’m confident with the support that it can be done.”
And that support will come from many throughout PSE, said Brandon, whether it's day-to-day scheduling, or the overseeing of both organizations. "I will certainly lean on my staffs," he said, while noting he will have offices at One Bills Drive, at Pegula Sports and Entertainment, and First Niagara Center.
However, when it comes to actual decision-making in the hockey department, Brandon says he’ll leave that to General Manager Tim Murray. “I couldn’t be more hands off.”

Brandon: The dual presidency (model) is done in many other markets (@PelicansNBA)

The Bills and Sabres aren’t the only franchises in different sports but with one owner to have this structure. Dennis Lauscha is president of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints and NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans; Peter McLoughlin is president of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, represents Paul Allen’s ownership interest in Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders FC, and is on the board of directors for the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers; Scott O’Neil is CEO of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils and the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers, and Josh Kroenke is president of the Denver Nuggets and owner of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche.

I was never on it to begin with. Consider this a wising up move on your part. He lost me right at the start when he made Regier go out and overpay for that POS, Ville Leino.
Pegula's not good. He's just different. ie not named Wilson, Golisano or Rigas.
Ehrhoff was the prize as well. Sabres got him too. Leino was money against the sabres too the previous spring in the Flyers win over the sabres. That game 6 OT winner sucked for us.
Who cares ? He doesn't play the game.
