Roger Goodell upholds Tom Brady suspension

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on integrity of the game, the league announced Tuesday.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on integrity of the game, the league announced Tuesday.

Brady was suspended four games in May after footballs used by the Patriots during the AFC Championship Game against the Colts were found to be inflated under the minimum level prescribed by the league. Along with the NFL Players Association, Brady challenged his penalty and testified before Goodell at an appeal hearing last month.

The four-time Super Bowl winner is eligible to play Week 6 in Indianapolis against the Colts. Jimmy Garoppolo, who played sparingly as Brady's backup last year, is expected to start the team's first four games of the season. Brady remains eligible for training camp and the preseason.

So much for waiting until just prior to the season starting.

The league statement says that Brady had his phone destroyed despite being under investigation. What a piece of work the guy is.

That sure seems like the kind of actions and innocent man would take right ?

      Lying, cheating scumbag. FU Tom.

I hope one day the NFL decides to ban Brady and Belicek from the hall and removes all their superbowl trophies prior to spygate, as well as this one - guess that would be all of them now wouldn't it?

this team is too full of controversy and it needs to be broken up. and they need an investigation from the FBI into the NFL's officiating - a 3 year long investigation so that we can get some honest referreeing out of this league since so many people like to bet on football.

"On or shortly before March 6, the day that Tom Brady met with independent investigator Ted Wells and his colleagues, Brady directed that the cell phone he had used for the prior four months be destroyed. He did so even though he was aware that the investigators had requested access to text messages and other electronic information that had been stored on that phone," the league's statement read. "During the four months that the cell phone was in use, Brady had exchanged nearly 10,000 text messages, none of which can now be retrieved from that device. The destruction of the cell phone was not disclosed until June 18, almost four months after the investigators had first sought electronic information from Brady."

Short of Tom coming out and saying "My bad I did it" this is as close to an admission of guilt as it gets. You just don't do that. Not while being under investigation.

If he takes them to court, will they delay his suspension? I'm still not 100% convinced that he's not playing against us just because that's the way things happen for Bills fans.

The rumor is that he won't appeal because Bellicheat had signed a deal with the league that if he got caught in anymore cheating issues he would be banned.

The Patriots don't want to open up their organization to anymore scrutiny including losing their head coach.

                          I think this is over.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                            It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

This gives time to litigate the issue prior to the season. Good move.
