They get thrown at a lot. Especially against the Orioles.

They sure can put up runs though so getting down isn't terrible. Dickey has actually been pretty good except his last 2 starts. Buerhle is missing over the plate and for a guy who needs a tail wind to hit 90, that is a recipe for disaster.

Well Gibby found a way to over-manage and cool down the bats. It took playing Goins, Pennington and Navaro while leaving a .333 hitter in Collobello on the bench.

Can you imagine? Collobello gets a couple of hits including a HR on Tuesday and then Gibby rewards him by benching him for the next 2 games.

Smoak hit .204 last year. Is a career .225 hitter and now is batting .216. That is why Seattle cut him. I don't care if he catches the ball with his buttcheeks since you don't sacrifice offense at 1st base. Besides Collobello has been playing great D the past month at 1st base.

Gibby has no clue what he is doing and when we get in the play-offs he will be embarrassed. Just play the obvious line up you tool!

My God. They are just crushing the ball and have the pitching to be taken seriously.

I think they have enough offence. I would rather have the few extra outs he gets by grabbing the ball in the dirt.

Brett Cecil should have pitched the 9th inning

Re: Blue Jays making a run!!

This is what I think the 25 man roster should be to start the playoffs

    P David Price
    P R A Dickey
    P Marcus Stroman
    P Marco Estrada
    P Roberto Osuna
    P Aaron Sanchez
    P Mark Lowe
    P Liam Hendricks
    P Brett Cecil
    P Mark Buerhle
    C Russell Martin
    C Dionner Navarro
    IF Justin Smoak
    IF Edwin Encarnacion
    IF Chris Collabello
    IF Ryan Goins
    IF Troy Tulowitzki
    IF Josh Donaldson
    IF Cliff Pennington
    IF Munenori Kawasaki
    OF Jose Bautista
    OF Kevin Pillar
    OF Ben Revere
    OF Ezequeil Carrera
    OF Dalton Pompey

I only have 10 pitchers on the roster I thought long and hard about having the 11th pitcher be either Aaron Loup or Ryan Tepera... In that case Id have to drop either Pompey or Kawasaki

I think they need to keep Schultz in the bullpen rather than Buerhle. Buerhle can't come out of the bull pen. As much as I hate Loup, I see him being the 2nd left hander in the bullpen as well.

Cut Kawasaki. We already have BJ Bird as the team mascot.

I would keep Hague for his bat rather than both Pompey and Carrera. Carrera can hit as well as run so he may get the nod.

I thought that was too easy. I forgot about Hawkins in the bullpen.

Re: Blue Jays making a run!!

Can Ben Revere play CF? The only reason I have Pompey on the roster is in case Pillar got hurt.. Im afraid of keeping Buerhle off the roster because it may upset the other veterans?

I do not trust Aaron Sanchez to pitch the 8th inning anymore he has been shaky the last few weeks.... Gibby should go with Hendricks or Lowe to start the 8th if there is a right handed batter or 2 to start the inning

Hawkins hads't pitched much lately Id have Ryan Tepera on the roster over Hawkins

And Tepera likely cost himself a spot on the playoff roster with those back to back HRs

Re: Blue Jays making a run!!

If Aaron Loup is on the playoff roster Gibby cannot put Loup in a situation where he would face a righthanded batter..Only lefthanded batters Gibby would be 100% sure would not be pinch hit for like Prince Fielder or Brett Gardner

    Revere can play CF.

I think Carrera may have cost himself a spot with that base running error and poorly played ball over his head.

Re: Blue Jays making a run!!

I grew up a Jays fan because the first MLB game I ever saw live was at the old Exhibition Stadium. I gave up on baseball after the strike in '94 but got back in when I was living in Northern Va and the Nationals came back to DC 10 years ago.

Since my Nats are out of it, I'll jump back on the Jays bandwagon for the playoffs. Plus, it'll piss off all the O's fans around here.

I think I even have a few Jays hats from back in the day. Not sure if I can find the, though- we recently moved and are only semi unpacked.

So spiked got one right..Mark Buerhle has been told he is not on the playoff roster.. I thought their celebration in Baltimore was fairly over the top for just winning a division title and they pissed away home field advantage should they get to the ALCS.. Too much negativity going into the ALDS

The home field advantage is theirs for every series except if we play the Royals in the 2nd round. No biggie.

The Jays match up well against the Texans.

The losses to the Orioles was no big deal. Having our closer get beat up again on Saturday is a bigger deal.

I think they will bring Loup.

    Hopefully they don't bring a 3rd catcher.

11 days rest? Being allowed to party all night for winning a 5 team division? Gibby should go back to being a bench coach!!

Price continues to suck in the playoffs, and now you gotta beat Hamels...gonna take some real grit to get this one today. As I suspected, Jays pitching could be holding them back in October.

Looking good against Hamels so far.
