The dude isn't going to jail. She's already thought of as a slut and already getting threats. The threats will end by the end of the hockey season, if not sooner, because it won't be an issue after that. Might as well get the payday, because at this point it's the best possible outcome.

The athletes are treated like gods their whole lives and aren't used to people telling them "no," so it's perfectly plausible that she said no and he did it anyway. But there are women looking for a payday, and women who may not have ill intent initially but feel guilty after the fact- maybe she has a boyfriend, and let's face it- we are still a slut- shaming society. And both parties were drinking so neither account is completely reliable.

The whole thing is a giant cluster****, but if the initial claim is legit, there is no reason whatsoever to present the fake evidence-tampering claim. It doesn't prove anything definitively, but it adds doubt. When this story first broke, I thought Kane was ****ed. The longer it goes on, it doesn't seem so obvious.

In the end I just hope the truth comes out. If he did it, I hope he goes to jail. If he didn't, I hope the ***** gets ****ed over for lying.

And virtually everything you say I agree with. It explains perfectly that she has nothing but maybe a little cash to gain and everything else to lose. I mean, she won't be able to stay in this area because she will always be thought of as the slut trying to get money. THAT will cost a LOT of money to leave the area and start a new life. Parents as well.

I heard the friend of the accuser is hesitant to come forward as well. You think it might be because of how she sees her friend getting treated and doesn't want any of that for her?

You're right, it's a giant cluster****. And the mother screwed up. But as a parent, when it comes all out in the media (how does that happen) that your child's rape kit shows no DNA evidence where there should be some, you would probably feel obligated to do something. Incredibly stupid. This is a case where Kane should possibly not come back to Buffalo. Because as a father, I might try to accidentally bump into him around town.
