The Rams released three players on Monday, including wide receiver Terrence Wilkins, whose one season in St. Louis turned out to be a monster bust. Also released were backup quarterback Scott Covington and linebacker Joe Cooper. The Rams have also cut kicker and punter Mike Shafer.
Wilkins, acquired in April 2002 in a sign-and-trade deal with the Colts, finished last season with a meager five catches. He spent the last three games on the bench after getting into a sideline argument with Rams coach Mike Martz at Kansas City on Dec. 8. In the season finale against the 49ers, Wilkins was spotted buying a hot dog at halftime. ...
