After 3 games in 2014, Mario Williams had 2 sacks and 7 tackles with 1 assist, but he wasn't playing linebacker, he was playing as a defensive end, which is where he belongs imho.

He has put a lot of pressure on QB's and done a superb job of setting the edge against the run, sometimes stats don't tell the whole story. Watch the film.

He's great at setting the edge against the run, forcing running backs to run in to the arms of Dareus and Kyle Williams, but I think he's a better pass rusher for a $19.4 million cap hit.

He was great at stopping the Patriots 15 rushing attempts.

One things about these three games is that no one has had an amazing game, yet they've won handily twice and redound their footing in a game they got thrashed in.

Im cool with getting a team playing as a team than having a few players be gods amongst men.

He would never be able to live up
To that contract and people still complain.

He single handedly has won us games in the past three years and people still complaining.

Honestly people just let it go already the whole world knows we over paid for him because we had to in order to get him to sign.

We're not getting sacks because our opponents have been getting rid of the ball as quickly as possible.

The DL as a whole is way down as far as sacks this year.

One thing I noticed against the Fins was rampant holding not getting called. It was horrible. The Fins OL was taking guys down to the ground.

Not an excuse but still.

I think they should be blitzing more.

Every opponent is going to be spending a TON of time focusing on getting the ball out fast against us. Also, in the first game at minimum (I haven't really taken any time to look at the 2nd and 3rd games) i believe the game-plan was to have Mario and Hughes hold the edge while applying pressure up the middle with blitzes. Luck got it out quick, but it is inarguable that the plan worked. When you ask those guys to hold the edge and not allow the QB out of the pocket, it is a thankless task for stats, but if that pressure up the middle comes, it is a great scheme.

In NE, i think we just dropped into coverage too often and focused on getting a rush with the front four only. Against Brady, that has worked in the past, but you can't expect to get too many sacks on that guy if he's focused on the fact that you're coming after him all week.

In the end, the sack is a grossly over-rated statistic. Our rush has caused more than enough bad throws and strips so far and i'll take a fumble or INT over a sack 10 times out of 10.
