Redskins at impasse with DT Wilkinson

A lack of leverage against defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson will keep him from accepting a paycut and the Washington Redskins from releasing the overpaid veteran — at least anytime soon.
____Threatening a release has been the club's only potential leverage to make Wilkinson lower his $3.5_million salary. But Wilkinson's camp has known for months that any such threat is hollow because there aren't any starting-quality defensive tackles available.
____NFL sources this week confirmed that the Redskins are not considering any of the available free agent interior linemen and that the club's already thin group means it cannot part with Wilkinson unless it finds a suitable replacement.

Redskins to Wilkinson: Take pay cut, or don't play

ASHBURN, Va. -- Dan Wilkinson stood on the sidelines Monday during the first practice of the Washington Redskins' training camp, wearing a black baseball cap and gray shirt instead of a helmet and jersey, dangling his sunglasses in his right hand.

Although he's ready to suit up, the team essentially told him not to bother until he agrees to take a pay cut.

"It's unfortunate that here it's time to rock and roll, and my teammates are counting on me to be out there to support them, and I'm not able to do that," Wilkinson said. "Unfortunately this business takes a lot of odd turns."

I'd LOVE to see TD steal him somehow

before the Jets or worse, Pats, pick him up. All three teams need DT depth.

        Yeah, so would I.

He's not good, and yesterday on TV he looked somewhat overweight and "slobby", but he'd be a good backup in the $1.5M range.

But I think the Skins will offer him at least that. Wilkinson's been overrated for years. He had good days in Cincy and the "shat the bed!"

        He's nowhere near worth $3.5M.
Replace Donahoe with Modrak and fire the entire coaching staff!

        Then let's go to Disneyworld!

        GO BILLS!!!
