Yeah, again. Sabres aren't tanking this season. Your ignorance is showing.
Don't forget Johnson... he can be moved too!
and jamjam... Organizational culture change happens because someone flipped a page on the calendar?
U didn't answer my question
I'm sorry... did I miss the fire sale?
it addresses the inherent problem of an organization who claims to be about winning a Cup, but choose intentional losing as one of the means of getting there.
because said star didn't fit in with Babcock's and Shanahan's culture of winning... not in an effort to finish in last place in the hopes of drafting McJesus. No, but they did trade away their biggest star, whose contract wasn't even expiring.

The sabres trading away expiring contracts wasn't in hopes of drafting mc jesus either. They were expiring. They got something for them. Not a hard concept to figure out.
I don't think anyone with any true knowledge of the sport expected the sabres to make the playoffs this year. The fact is, they are lightyears better than they were from 13-15. And still have lightyears to go. The process is clearing heading in the right direction with plenty of work left. So what's the problem?
Keeping pysyk in rochester last year? Tanking. Trading away vanek, ott, miller, stafford, ect who weren't coming back for assets and picks? Not tanking. Trading away expiring contracts for assets is not an uncommon tactic. It's one every team employs. So, yes, I'd say using that example is pretty poor.
Not sure why this method is being questioned now when it's a universal occurrence. In every sport.
You say parallel, I say contrast. I never even implied the Leafs were tanking.
JATM brought up the Kessel trade. I don't think it's a tank move. Kessel is a guy that wears on a team and he wore through for the Leafs. They got some good prospects and some nice picks. It's a good move.
In the past year, the Sabres have also made a lot of nice moves and they are greatly improved. One of those nice moves was to get a possible starting goalie in Lehner who unfortunately has missed most off the season. Despite that, the Sabres are greatly improved over last season. This is objective fact (projecting at +18 in the standings) and obvious to even the most casual fan. Persisting with this tank garbage is not doing you any favors and only makes you look like a troll like Spike. You're better than that.
