This whole thing has been a giant fup; the only thing the NHL did right was changing the allstar MVP vote to vote him game mvp. The League tried to talk him out of attending, tried to shame him out of attending, then convinced the coyotes to trade him and have the Canadians stash him in the AHL, to make him ineligible for the all-star game (yes that trade was "encouraged" by the nhl). It was only because of the media outrage and bad press that the league allowed him to play in the game anyway.

Overall the league made an ass out of itself.

this was being talked about immediately after the trade; the coyotes traded him for a bag of pucks and the promise from the league that one of their "real" stars would get to attend in his place.

That is my question, who was talking about it? I read many things about it, but the trade being encouraged by the league wasn't one of them. And trading a guy who barely played for a former first round pick is hardly trading for a bag of pucks regardless of the timing or circumstance. Tinordi is still in Phoenix if I'm not mistaken.

That is my question, who was talking about it? I read many things about it, but the trade being encouraged by the league wasn't one of them. And trading a guy who barely played for a former first round pick is hardly trading for a bag of pucks regardless of the timing or circumstance. Tinordi is still in Phoenix if I'm not mistaken.

Bob Mackenzie talking on the radio is a source, Captain google? Seemed like a lot of i don't knows and can't say for sures in there. Not to mention at no point did he say what you said he did.
