I can't see anything happening at the deadline because Stamkos would have to waive his no trade clause AND the would have to negotiate a long term deal with the Sabres. No sense getting a rent-a-player when we wont make the playoffs.
So, if this happens it would be in the off-season. And if it happens then there are no excuses for not making the playoffs n ft year.
It's probably more about the owners deep pockets. Cha-ching.

I would give anything to see the Sabres throw the Leafs rebuild plans off track, it would be just like the late Seymour H. Knox III and his brother late Nordy hiring the the late Punch Imlach after he was fired by the Leafs to be coach and GM of the Sabres...
