When my brother was in the Navy in the subs he was stationed at Groton Sub base, we drove to Conn. to celebrate Easter with him and we went to Hartford and passed the Civic Center and there was chains on the doors and a small plaque that was bolted on one of the doors saying "the whale will return to Hartford someday".

Why did they chain shut a still used arena? I think you are lying. Again.

recently saw Pearl Jam in civic center in 2013. it's horribly small and has a hard time accommodating a full house. lines for drinks, food and bathroom. Things that don't happen at modern facilities. the seat count is also pretty small. No way they could reasonably take an NHL team. no boxes either.

I went to two games in Hartford. (Sabres and Blackhawks). It was literally in a mall

My brother did as well.

Sadly, the mall no longer exists-at least not in its prior form.

The Wolf Pack has been using it as their home arena since the Whalers left. Why would anyone feel the need to make **** up all the time?

Seven Canadian cities not in the playoffs are enough.

Maybe if they had a regional team between Regina and Saskatoon. I don't think either city could support an NHL franchise on their own and it's a pretty far drive between the two.

How about Halifax? Heck, they could kayak to road games in Boston! ;-)

I remember when the hurricanes almost left hartford for detroit. Yeah, detroit was about to have two teams.
