CFL, NFL partner up to form officiating development program

TORONTO — The National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL) announced Friday the formation of the NFL-CFL Officiating Development Program.

Beginning this season, a group of NFL officials will have the opportunity to work as part of CFL crews during preseason and regular-season games in June and July, prior to starting their NFL season at the league’s annual officiating clinic in late July.

Several CFL officials will then join the NFL’s Officiating Development Program, which is designed to train top officials in all aspects of NFL officiating. Elements of the program include attending NFL minicamps and training camps, officiating preseason games, studying position-specific film with veteran NFL officials, reviewing mechanics and analyzing rules differences between the NFL and other leagues, including the CFL and college football.

“Any time our newer officials can get more reps on the field, during practices or games, that will make them better officials,” said NFL Senior Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino. “The collaboration with the CFL will certainly benefit us as we prepare for the 2016 season and we look forward to welcoming our CFL officiating counterparts to our development program later this spring.”

The NFL officials working in the CFL will be primarily deep wing officials – side judges and field judges – to minimize the impact of some of the rules differences between the two leagues.More....

Political correctness ( or cancel culture as it is called today) is a doctrine fostered by a delusional ,illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by MSM which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

This isn't going to end well. The officials will come back & start calling catches valid when the guy is 5 yards out of bounds & not call touchdowns unless the guy is 5 yards deep into the endzone.
The Bills will be the 1st team screwed by one of these calls because Rex will be out of challenges.

Cross border officiating: Three CFL officials will work NFL pre-season games this weekend as part of the NFL-CFL Officiating Development Program. Dave Foxcroft, who has 249 games of CFL experience, will work the San Francisco versus Denver game on August 20th. Dave Hawkshaw, a veteran of 147 CFL games, will work the New Orleans versus Houston game on August 20th. Justin McInnes will work at Lambeau Field when the Oakland Raiders visit the Green Bay Packers.
