5/1 - Projected post draft depth chart

    Not including udfa's.

    http://www.buffalorumblings.com/bill...2016-nfl-draft

It's only projected, and nothing happened yet, but at least to me, it's not real inspiring atm, atm being the pertinent point in May.

Stacked at running back again, and quarterback has gone from ????? to ???, so that's a plus.

If Miller, Henderson, Woods, and whoever else plays Safety next to Graham play well, I'd say we're in really good shape.

Why? We're stacked. Hughes, S.Lawson, M.Lawson, Johnson outside, Ragland, P.Brown and Z.Brown inside.

I shake my head at WR, TE, Oline, Oline, Oline and safety.

Hughes, M.Lawson, P.Brown and Z.Brown all have starting (and successful to varying degrees) experience. Essentially two first round draft picks added to the mix. Johnson is now decent vet depth. That's seven quality guys for four spots, really three considering how often the team will be in nickel and dime.

Compared to TE (a dinged up Clay, and who?), safety (a dinged up AW, a converted corner, and a whole lotta suck there), WR (two starters, a STer and a whole lotta suck) and oline (OK, they've got starts under their belt but other than Glenn and Incognito the rest of the group is marginal at best and more suck).

Yes, compared to those other positions I would say the lber crew is 'stacked'.

Re: 5/1 - Projected post draft depth chart

Dunno why anybody who follows the NFL would expect a roster without holes. It just doesn't happen anywhere ever.

The biggest question is at quarterback, and has been that for quite some time. If we get quality play from Tyrod Taylor, the Bills should see some success. If they don't get quality play out of Taylor, the Bills probably WON'T see as much success. Hopefully, we remain relatively healthy as well...that's important to any team. I like this team and the players on it. We have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs this year if the ball bounces our way enough, I think. If we don't shoot ourselves in the foot a lot, too...

I'm perfectly prepared for a world of chagrin in one form or another, though...it's a habit by now.

I could see a scenario at LB where Preston Brown is benched in favor of Ragland and Manny Lawson starts somewhere since he would likely have to take care of calling the plays in the huddle. I would be happy to be proven wrong on that.

Manny and Z Brown likely going to be our nickel LBs.

Hughes, S.Lawson, M.Lawson, Johnson are listed as edge rusher. Ragland, Brown, Brown and Reddick are all that listed as (Inside) LB. Looks a little thin. Preston struggled last year.

I'd rather have holes at inactive third string quarterback, fourth string runningback, and practice squad cornerback than 2nd string tight end, swing tackle, and second string safety.

I think you're both on the right path. Lots of rotation on the DL (Dareus,Kyle Williams,Bryant,Washington and possibly 6-7 364 Barnes at NT) at ILB (Ragland,Zack Brown, Preston Brown). OLB/DE hybrid Jerry Hughes, Shaq Lawson,Manny Lawson The depth is now allowing this.

I believe Ragland will now be calling the plays.

The key is not so much a talent question.. but whether Rex feels he can now switch from Contain to Attack. He has the horses in the Front 7. Use them.

Nobody's roster is even close to ideal.

A majority of the depth is probably going to be question marks rather than true known holes, where guys have already proven to be inadequate fillers. I think the Bills have a pretty strong overall roster. Like I said, how Taylor plays will say more about the Bills success or lack thereof than anything else, IMO. Gotta have strong QB play, and that's the key. I'm of the opinion that we'll be able to run the ball and play defense...ground and pound, and all that.

I kind of wonder about that. If Ragland isn't at the start he soon should be. Agree about attack, just wonder if his defense hasn't been solved and teams with good coaching and smarter qbs will still shred it...like attacking might make it worse. Ryan scheme defenses just aren't doing that well these days.

It is about trying to get the defense up on par. As Rex Ryan is a defensive kind of guy IMHO. As you get guys to boast up either defenses or offenses in the draft.
