We are going to run all day and we should. We have enough rb's should anyone get injured but do we have enough OL to run all day?

We do, we probably won't get very far though.

In a passing league, a dominant run game is ineffective when playing from behind. We have to get stops to be able to rely on the run. Plus the O and Taylor must improve in the red zone.

    Re: Johnathan Williams vs Ragland

OL is my main concern of this team, more than TE. Last year the Bills got lucky without sustaining major injuries in OL. And that reflected in their overall offensive output, particularly in run game and helped Tyrod.

Right now They have one quality backup of Velasco for Incognito, Wood, and Miller (Cyril Richardson in practice squad). They have 4 tackles in Glenn, Mills, Henderson and Kouandjio. Likely they carry these 8 into the active roster with Kouandjio learning to play some guard. Not sure much confidence this group inspires but any one serious injury could derail the whole thing. If that injury is Glenn, it will be a major setback.

When coming from behind, I agree. But running successfully gives great offenses like Brady off the field and wears down defenses. It also keeps our crappy defense off the field until everyone (especially the rookies) understand this confusing scheme.

We cannot get into a shooting contest with the Pats. We need to win TOP , keep the game close and steal the game until we have a proven franchise qb which we don't have.

I've mostly given up on hoping we build a team to beat NE anytime soon. We don't have the personnel to cover thier intermediate passing game with Gronk and now Bennett. It's about winning often enough over the rest of the season to make the playoffs. A dominant running game is nice but you need proficient enough passing in the red zone to compete.

Ragland does such a good job reading the hole and getting there at the same time, or before, the running back does. Hope he can play the same at the pro level.

Another thing Justa, about a successful running attack...if you want to win long term with it, don't have your qb an important part of it.

Ragland finished the game stronger than he started it. At first he got ate up by a few down field blocks but he did find the seams later on. He also had a couple of nice sideline pursuits but was non existent once (I think)on pass D.

On the flip side I Williams didn't make much when there was no place to go and no place to go is common with the Bills OL, though he was fairly effective when he did find the hole. The thing I think I like about Williams is his pass catching. He seems to have soft hands and tracks the ball well. He looks pretty fluid catching the ball.

I still just think you scout and gather depth rb's in udfa.

Fair enough. You're hoping for a qb who can do well in the redzone. I do too. But as far as where we're at based on the end of the season, I am not holding my breath . I am however expecting a better running game now that they are in the 2nd season under the same system.

As far as covering Bennett and Gronk, it is exactly why we need to run well. To keep them off the field.

I'm not looking long term. Until we have a franchise qb who is an elite passer, there is no long term. What we have is a proven running game that can get better.

I like the JWill pick, but you do see a difference when he is facing an elite front like Bama's where his blocking is not nearly as effective. Still, the nice runs he did have showed that he is a quality RB IMO.

There has to be a sex joke in there somewhere.
