    2017 draft simulator

Never too early to get started, and the stuff I chugged for my sinus infection has taken hold, so via Fanspeak, the only current 2017 big board :

13: R1P13 QB Chad Kelly MISSISSIPPI : HAHA, I GOT HIM I GOT HIM.

45: R2P13 TE Bucky Hodges VIRGINIA TECH : I got Kelly, Clay had an achy 2016, so a TE named Bucky can't hurt.

77: R3P13 C Dan Voltz WISCONSIN : Watching Woods in 2016, I think he's done at 30, going to add some electricity to C with Voltz.

140: R5P13 CB Shaq Wiggins LOUISVILLE : Always need cb's, need keep getting Shaq's so they all gel together.

145: R5P18 OT Forrest Lamp WESTERN KENTUCKY : I see Lamp lighting the way at tackle or I'm in the dark.

172: R6P13 DT Tanzel Smart TULANE : Smart is the clever pick here to replace Kyle Williams who disappeared at sea in the offseason attempting to sail to Antarctica on a tire raft with a cooler because Incognito told him he'd never be able to do it.

Summary : I got Chad Kelly. He'd better be healthy and behave himself.

Maybe it's just me so far, but this draft looks as shallow with core players as the last one was deep. Frosting players, supplemental LB's, WR's, RB's, and TE's, depth CB's and project linemen abound.

I was targeting Brad Kaaya in round 2 but the Browns decided they liked him at the top of the round, so that pushed back my QB selection for the next round.

Since Falk might not be known by a lot of people, here's a scouting report. http://www.the-daily-draft.com/luke-...couting-report

The first pick of Round 5 I think I found a long term replacement for Aaron Williams with a ball hawking safety in Nacua.

Round 6 brings in TJ Watt. In reality I don't think he lasts this long though. Intriguing based on his pedigree and that he flies all over the place.

The rest of the picks I was just hitting needs with solid players and the selection of Tom is just a guy who can backup the entire interior, if the need arises. That is hoping he can bulk up a little bit because he's a little light in the pants for the NFL level.

    Re: 2017 draft simulator

    Ok. Used CBS.

    13: R1P13
    S JAMAL ADAMS
    LSU

    45: R2P13
    C ETHAN POCIC
    LSU

    77: R3P13
    QB CHAD KELLY
    OLE MISS

    155: R5P13
    CB DAMONTAE KAZEE
    SAN DIEGO STATE

    173: R5P31
    OT JON HECK
    NORTH CAROLINA

    192: R6P13
    WR DAMORE'EA STRINGFELLOW
    OLE MISS

    216: R6P37
    G JOHNNY CASPERS
    STANFORD

Round 1 : Adams is a future all pro strong safety imho, ball skills, fierce, playmaker, smart, leadership, size.
Round 2 : Pocic is a stud. Best center, can also play guard or RT. I'm thinking future center, immediate starting RT.
    Round 3 : Kelly...can't help it.
Round 5 (a) : Kazee. Good CB. Figuring Seymore & Darby start (Gilmore bye bye), Work him in as nickel.
Round 5 (b) : Heck. Right tackle, possible guard if Miller flounders or Incognito falls off. Depth with upside.
Round 6 (a): Stringfellow. Size and speed, flourished with Kelly. Was surprised he was still there.
Round 6 (b) : Caspers. 5th year senior, RT, can play more positions. Swing man for young depth with upside.

Idea : Clean out the OL junk with some quality, make SS solid, shore up CB, add a competitor at QB, add some talent at WR.

    13: R1P13 - LB JABRILL PEPPERS, MICHIGAN
    45: R2P13 - WR DEDE WESTBROOK, OKLAHOMA
    77: R3P13 - C ETHAN POCIC, LSU

    192: R6P13 - S TONY CONNER, OLE MISS
    216: R6P37 - QB JOSHUA DOBBS, TENNESSEE

I went for maximum value with nearly every pick and I'd be pretty happy with this set of picks. I think a number of these players could come in and contribute on Day 1.

I love Peppers and Pocic, but keep wondering if they drop far enough. I use the CBS board and Peppers nearly always drops, but I always figure Jamal Adams is more likely to. I can't get Pocic to drop past the 2nd round.

Figuring the combine might make Peppers a top 10 pick, and Pocic maybe even late first ?

Peppers maybe, it will depend on his measurements and who thinks they can get him to fit their scheme.

Pocic I just don't see as a first rounder unless he just blows people away. He was really good at LSU but most people don't fall in love with centers that early.

Thing about Pocic though....he's got starts at RT, RG and LT as well (though primarily a center) and has said he doesn't care where he plays. Purely as a center he won't crack the 1st round, not sure he's viewed as purely a center though.

Talent wise I love your draft. But, then I think without a QB, we are looking at another 8-8 season.

    OT JONAH PIRSIG MINNESOTA

I wasn't going to force a pick on a QB in the 1st. Ala EJ. So I picked Williams to team up with Watkins to give my new QB target.
Best QB available in the 2nd Kaaya
Would have liked to upgrade RT in the 3rd. No one there so I upgrade OL depth with Pocic
Then BPA from there on out.

---Had to reach a little bit and get past the WR's, RB's and LBers that dominated the players left on the board to snag Feeney, but he may be the best interior lineman in the draft. Miller is iffy and Richie is getting up there.
---I could live with Elflein in the second instead of Pocic, who might be a little long for center, but couldn't pass up his versatility.
---Still think Kelly is at, or at least near, the top of the QB prospects in this draft.
---Conner has good size and is a big hitter, which we need at safety.
---Reynolds has size, and good hands...not great speed but a good red zone/third down-move the chains target.
---Lawrence is another guy with size (notice a theme?), but might also be a little bit slow. May actually fit better at safety, which we need many of.
---Johnson is special teams/another safety prospect.

I always use CBS, not sure if true or not but it always strikes me as most reasonable and most unforgiving. If I skip Pocic in 2 he's gone shortly after, can't ever get him in 3 (heh, I'm always after Pocic so far).

I also end up reaching a lot to get past RB's LB's, edge rushers and WR's. Skipping WR Listenbee & RB Williams last year in favor of the core positions we still need which last years draft was deep in, sure looks a lot wiser when looking at this draft class where we could have had the chance to load up on them. But they don't scout underclassmen so every draft is magically new and fresh again.

    My Doug Whaley draft.

Eyes nearly closed, Doug will stand there in the warroom on draft day, hands in the pockets of his expensive suit, quietly rocking back and forth from heels to toes, observers sure he'll nod out and topple in either direction but no.....and when the Bills are on the clock, everyone staring at him waiting, suddenly his eyes will flicker just barely more open, his toes in dress shoes snapping down on the floor with a gunshot crack as he mumbles a pick, lips barely moving.
