    Dwight Adams passes away

Dwight Adams, a key personnel man for the Bills during the 90’s, passed away Sunday.

Adams was a critical component of Buffalo’s strong draft record under former GM John Butler through the 90’s, when the Bills were one of the league’s winningest teams. He served primarily as Director of College Scouting.

Adams was famous among Bills fans for turning a line when asked to describe a particular college prospect.

He once said of Bills former first-round pick Antoine Winfield that – “He plays like his hair is on fire.”

When someone asked about Bills former draft choice Jamie Nails (one of the first behemoth offensive linemen to play for the Bills) losing 20 pounds Adams said it wasn’t a big deal.

“That’d be like throwing a deck chair off the Titanic,” said Adams.

He was also one of the first to describe receiving prospects as a “7-11 receiver – he’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Adams.

    One of my favorites.

Other than the 'hair on fire' comment, another gem was (can't remember the specific player) when questioned about a guy's lack of height..."We're not bringing him in to change light bulbs".

Leading up to draft day, he was immensely popular with the local radio shows. Great listen and a solid scout. Quite the character. RIP
