All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

To follow up on #181: The Jacksonville IceMen have announced a news conference for Monday, July 17th at 10am to announce their new affiliation. They have been affiliated with the NY Rangers for the past 2 seasons.
Cue Mr. Spock saying "Fascinating." This may impact Buffalo and it may not. Watch this space.
John Hemingway(facing certain death): I want to see Buffalo win the Super Bowl.
David Coltrane(threatening John): Nobody's going to live that long, pal.

LOL. I used to skate in a league in Jacksonville. There was no ice hockey there then. That's great to hear. There were a lot of hockey fans living there from parts North.
Ouch. How do ya rupture an Achilles in a skate boot? Or was it during a workout?
Oof. Jack Quinn had a ruptured Achilles fixed. He won't be ready for the start of the season

I've noticed that he's likely going to be out for up to 6 months.

One guy older than dirt won't be able to garner meaningful minutes. The other guy a mighty might that is familiar to Granato. Maybe a tougher version of Bryson. This means Bryson, Stillman, and Clague won't be back. Not sure it's necessarily an upgrade.
Connor Clifton got a 3 year deal. The vast amount of the free agents only got 1 or 2 year deals. Clifton led all NHL defensemen in 2022-23 with only 2.34 power play goals allowed per 60 minutes. He led all Bruins in the same stat from 2021 - 2023. Here's what you need to know:

He was also +20 last season. He's 5' 11" and 190 lbs. Sounds like a defensive version of Matthew Barnaby.
Watch Carolina. They have not yet resigned Pesce and signed Dmitry Orlov and Jesper Fast for their defense. Does this mean Brett Pesce is still a possibility for the Sabres?

The next thing to consider is what the market for Pesce would be on the trading block.
Fortunately, there are two examples that are very similar to Pesce’s situation.
In the summer before the 2021-22 season, the Sabres traded defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen to the Flyers on the first day of the NHL Draft in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick, a second-round pick in 2023 and depth defenseman Robert Hagg. Ristolainen, who had a year remaining on his contract, signed a five-year extension with Philadelphia in March 2022.
The return for Jacob Trouba in 2019 was slightly less, but the defenseman had made clear to Winnipeg that he wished to go to the Rangers. New York sent the No. 20 overall pick that year and defenseman Neal Pionk, who had just finished his first full NHL season, to the Jets. Trouba signed a seven-year extension a month later.
If Carolina gives a trade partner permission to talk to Pesce about an extension, the Hurricanes can expect a similar return — a mid-first-rounder, a bottom-half-of-the-lineup player and perhaps a little more.
Malcolm Subban, who was so good for the Amerks in their play-off run, is off to St. Louis. Hope he gets to see some time in the NHL. So the Sabres signed 2 goaltenders and a center for Rochester. Tokarski is back.
Sabres re-sign defenseman Kale Clague to one-year deal
Clague was a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2016 NHL Draft. He’s played 91 NHL games with the Sabres, Kings and Montreal Canadiens.
The 25-year-old played 33 games with the Sabres, scoring no goals but picking up four assists. With the Amerks, Clague had one goal and five assists for six points in 14 games.
In addition to the nine NHL defensemen the Sabres have, they also have Clague, Jeremy Davies, Joe Cecconi, Ryan Johnson, Nikita Novikov and Vsevolod Komarov set to play this year in Rochester.
Sportsnet hockey insider Elliotte Friedman reports the Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Kale Clague to a one-year deal worth $775,000.
