DeMelo is only 1 of 2 RHD on the Jets. I would be surprised if he went and it didn't include a RHD in return.

Could get Borgen back? He's doing quite well I've heard. Or Matt Dumba as a free agent.
Dumba is kind of like a ristolainen. Not as frustrating, but really poor underlying numbers that get overshadow by raw talent. Prone to make mistakes.

That said, as a free* player, I'd take him.

RHD and has a 20 goal season, might be a bidding war even if he hasn't been top notch. Although that was a few years ago so maybe you can get him on a good deal.

Sabres question, what would you guys trade to acquire Connor Hellebuyck?

Maybe you know more about Dumba than I do. But the Sabres are looking for a youngish RD, 6' 0" or bigger who is defensively responsible. Dumba fits the bill. I agree there will be a lot of demand for him. He blocked 116 shots this past season. That is what they need.

Anyone have comments about Okposo resigning for next year?

My feeling is "he's done," they need to clear room for the young players.

It’s 2.5. Not like the horrific deal he just came off.

in other news… did you all take note of what a franchise Goalie can do for an eight seed ?

    Re: Sabres news and notes

    From the above link...

Komarov was Buffalo's fifth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft

Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres have signed another prospect from their 2022 NHL Draft class, inking defensemen Vsevolod Komarov to his three-year entry-level contract.

Komarov was Buffalo's fifth-round selection (134th overall) in this past year's draft after playing his draft year in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Quebec Remparts.

The Russian-born blue liner put up 39 points (12+27) in 69 games this past season for the Remparts, plus eight points (1+7) in 18 playoff games. The 6-foot-2, 182-pound defenseman helped Quebec to a QMJHL championship win over the Halifax Mooseheads and an appearance in the CHL Memorial Cup.

The 19-year-old still has one year remaining of eligibility playing in the QMJHL before he's able to make the jump to the pros.

Komarov is the fifth member of the Sabres' 2022 NHL Draft class to sign his entry-level contract, joining first-rounders Matthew Savoie, Noah Ostlund, and Jiri Kulich, along with third-round pick Viktor Neuchev.

He's a heart and soul guy. I expect him to be rotated in over a true regular.

Missed the point. Great goaltending not just good or decent goaltending wins games.

Right, but labeling someone a franchise goalie before conceding to something much broader than that matters.

Bob got hot at the right time and Tkatchuk is a top 5 player in the league.

Bobs was a franchise goaltender in the past. Respect us older folk. Ageism is mean.

I don't disagree. But now, he's barely a guy. Except now

Rumor going around that Dahlins extension is done, just waiting until July 1 to put pen to paper.

The rumor is 8/10 for 80

puts him 3rd in AAV behind Doughty and Karlsson but ahead of Makar and Fox. Probably pretty close to market providing it wasn't a fluke year. Personally I don't think so but that is they only way you get burned out of this contract I think.

I think once the flat cap era passes, it'll be a very solid deal
