Buffalo has assigned these players to Rochester, per WIVB:

Forwards Brandon Biro, Steven Fogarty, Brett Murray & C.J. Smith.
Defensemen Casey Fitzgerald and Ryan Jones
Goalies Michael Houser and Dustin Tokarski

Also: The Sabres 5th round pick last year, Matteo Constantini, moves from Penticton of the BCHL to the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers.

    Re: Sabres news and notes

I’m always excited to see the Sabres News and Notes thread pop up with a new item to click.

with great anticipation like a kid on Christmas Eve, I hover to click. Will it be a new signing? Perhaps an elevation of a player I forgot about? Maybe even a recipe from a player with a bunch of “Ns“ in their last name.

    (my finger gets closer.)

perhaps some talking heads looked at the roster snd see something we all missed...

    (I click)

a freaking player is in Sioux City.

    deflated again.

This thread is for tracking the day to day transactions. If anything big happens, it usually ends up with its' own thread.

Do we have any cap space left for that?

I don't think so, so I'd have to imagine a piece moving out.

It's just nice to hear they're kicking tires on difference makers.

just hard to see a single player being good enough to push this team over the playoff hump...

No it's not. It's just either of those players are what the sabres need. They need defense and goaltending. I hope ullmark emerges as the true number 1

Get a goaltender to replace Hutton.

I was a bit surprised that they went with Hutton and not Ullmark last night. I really do think Ullmark was outplaying Hutton when last season got suspended and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

The announcers gave a reason for it. I forget exactly, but Ullmark wasn't "ready" for some reason. I believe he's in net tonight though.

Where is our cap hell? Other teams fill a roster and not just top 6. How is Wash not in a worse cap situation?

Ah. I was stuck listening to the Caps announcers. Since Caps games are considered local, the Sabres broadcast is blocked on NHL.tv.

I wouldn't blame him if he did. But I'd hope they'd go younger and start over at that

Dubois want's to play in Montreal.

Barkov is a UFA in 2022.

Being the GM of the Sabres that involves an Eichel trade is something I don't envy.

Kane and Toews will be hitting the market shorty as the Hawks need a rebuild themselves and those guys are not getting younger.

So A potential trade market could look like this in the next year or two.

    Eichel.

    Toews.

    Dubois.

    Barkov.

    All Centers.

I would be scouting the Hawks if I was the Sabres GM.

I dunno, personally, I think if adams was to move Eichel, he has all the cards. Eichel is a young, Franchise center with good term.

The return would be astronomical. Would they get a player as good as Eichel in return? I don't know.

What id want to avoid is trading a quarter for two dimes, like the ROR trade

Any armchair GM would do better than the ROR trade.

You're setting yourself up for major heartache with expectations like "astronomical"

The number of teams in the NHL with the ability to absorb an Eichel trade and still compete is limited.

And when you're making the trade because said player is asking to be moved due to losing and being disgruntled, You don't hold all the cards.

And if DuBois and Barkov (Both younger and cheaper) come on the market things only get worse.

The Sabres can't afford another full on rebuild waiting on prospects and picks to hopefully develop.
