Girgs can play all 3 spots on the 4th line... and is an exceptional PK guy.

    solid.

now find someone other than Larsson please... like B. Boyle on a 2 year deal.

Shore up the top 6 then find your bottom feeders. But I agree on losing Larsson.

This link has a link that shows the dman we just traded for from chicago (I cant spell his name yet for the life of me) is the 11th ranked d prospect in the league. We may have ourselves a stud

    Re: Sabres news and notes

Evan Rodrigues and the Sabres are $1.15 million apart as they exchange arbitration numbers.

Buffalo Sabres forward Evan Rodrigues is getting ready to have his salary arbitration hearing with the National Hockey League on Tuesday, and now we have an idea of how far apart both sides are on contract negotiations.

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Sunday that the Sabres and Rodrigues are $1.15 million apart on numbers for a new contract. Rodrigues is asking for a deal that will pay him $2.65 million per-year, while the Sabres are hoping to get him under contract with an average annual value of $1.5 million.

The Sabres and Rodrigues still have until Tuesday to avoid arbitration and come to terms on a new contract.

Last season, Rodrigues had a career-high 29 points (9+20) in 74 games while making $650,000 on his contract. The utility player was used up and down the lineup at all three forward positions.

In 154 NHL games, the 25-year-old has netted 21 goals and 62 points. Rodrigues was signed by the Sabres in 2015 after a successful career at Boston University while playing with Jack Eichel.

In addition to Rodrigues, forward Remi Elie (August 1), goalie Linus Ullmark (August 2) and defenseman Jake McCabe (August 4) are all scheduled to meet with league arbitors for salary arbitration.[

I'm not sure ERod is worth the contract he wants yet I'd rather keep him then Larsson/Girgensons all things considered.

The player over values and the team under values going into the hearing. Happens every time. I bet they meet in the exact middle if it gets to Arbitration.

He's going to end up getting somewhere between double what he gets now ($650,000) and $ 1.5 million. They will get it done.

I actually think they have until the deal is announced (usually the day later) to come to an agreement. Mostly I would think this happens only if the player thinks they are going to lose based on what occurred in the hearing.

The athletic put out a list of the top 50 nhl drafted prospects. Cozens was 9 and joki was 26.

    That's terrific

If you read this article, you have to believe that Pominville will be a Sabre this coming season...

“When you don’t have kids, or when the kids are really young, it’s easy to just pack your suitcases – younger kids will adjust,” he said. “But at the age my kids are at, it’s a little tougher.”

When free agency opened on July 1, Sabres GM Jason Botterill (who as it happens is Pominville’s former teammate) let him know that if the door to a return to Buffalo was about to close, he’d let him know. Call it a rare instance where no news from a team is actually good news, as long as you’re patient and have the ability to manage uncertainty.

And it’s not like the Sabres were the deepest team in the league when they flipped youngster Alex Nylander to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenceman Henri Jokiharju.

“Of course that would be ideal,” Pominville said of a prospective return to the Sabres, the club with which he’s played 11 of his NHL seasons.

I know montreal was looking at him. I'd love him back. Hes beloved in the community, he provides a vet presence, he can still play good hockey..... all the ingredients are there for him to be a positive impact player
