If he was 5'8" and 160, I'd tend to agree. But he's 5'11" 160 and that is exceptionally slender for an NHL forward.

5'10" 170 lbs is Patrick Kane.

Any team in the league would take all of those guys in an instant. Now obviously the golden egg is that speed and skill in a guy who is 6'4" but that isn't always possible. It has to be the right player and I do think they need to be faster than the average NHLer but guys who can play will always find a way into the league.

Oskari Laaksonen - D taken in 2017 (same draft as Mittelstadt & UPL). He amped up # of games in Rochester in year #2 there last season. He's got one more season there, then the Sabres decide what to do with him. May see some games with the big team next season?

Laaksonen drafted 10 picks in front of Jacob Bryson, but stayed in Europe for a few years. Probably why Bryson got a look with the Sabres first.

Oskari Laaksonen, defenseman, third round: Laaksonen was named an AHL All-Star for 2020-21 but hasn’t developed his game defensively at the rate the Sabres would like. He’s not engaged enough physically and tends to struggle with coverage in his own end, which led him to play only two of Rochester’s 12 playoff games. Laaksonen is under contract next season and is expected to return to the Amerks, where he will need to prove that he can correct his deficiencies.

The Sabres still need a goalie. How about Cam Talbot? Apparently not happy that Fleury is getting paid more than he is in Minnesota. How about the Sabres trade the rights to Portillo, a 2023 pick for Talbot and a lesser pick?

Murray: 246 GP, 132-78-22 with a .911 save %.
Kuemper: 299 GP, 143-95-36 with a .918 save %. And 1 Stanley Cup.

Murray is 28, Kuemper 32.

It should be noted that Washington is said to be "extremely interested' in Kuemper. TheHockeyWriters.com did include Buffalo in a list of free agent options, but said the Sabres were the least likely destination(Washington, Toronto and Edmonton were higher ranked).

Always liked him. Very good player. If he agreed to play bottom 6, I'd love that signing. Don't want to see him take away minutes from youngsters, but would love to see him play with some of them.
