The number of teams in the NHL with the ability to absorb an Eichel trade and still compete is limited.

And when you're making the trade because said player is asking to be moved due to losing and being disgruntled, You don't hold all the cards.

And if DuBois and Barkov (Both younger and cheaper) come on the market things only get worse.

The Sabres can't afford another full on rebuild waiting on prospects and picks to hopefully develop.

Oh, I never said they were gonna get him. In order to keep Eichel and get Barkov, they'd have to empty the cupboard

The Sabres don't want to trade Eichel. Eichel doesn't want that either. He wants a decent team around him. That's what he wants. Should start with getting better goaltending and a stay-at-home defenseman.

Preaching to the choir. But at a certain point, Eichel has to read the writing on the wall that this ownership group is completely incompetent and wont do those things unless it falls into their laps.

I'd love nothing more than the sabres to go out and get the help they desperately need.

I'd RATHER they trade the owner. The one the Sabres have seems to be focusing all of his energy on the Bills that it seems the Sabres are but a distant afterthought. And it shouldn't be.

As much as we derided Tom Golisano for HIS penny-pinching ways, at least in the years HE owned the team they were always at the very least halfway competitive. This team isn't.

You can't say that about the Riches and them owning the Bisons. They regularly keep Sahlen Field up to date(and in fact, when the Blue Jays came in last year, the lights got upgraded to major league standards...among other goodies). I wouldn't mind them being involved as part of an ownership group.

Also, Golisano’s penny-pinching ways was due to cheapness and greed. The Pegulas’ penny-pinching is due to necessity. They’ve run the team so poorly that wasn’t making money and it’s even worse now with COVID.

Capitals fined, Ovechkin among four players put on COVID list

The Buffalo Sabres are scheduled to play in Washington on Friday and Sunday, but their opponent could be without several key pieces, as there is now a COVID situation with the Capitals.

Four Capitals players have been placed on the COVID list, in Alex Ovechkin, Dmitry Orlov, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and starting netminder Ilya Samsonov.
