If that's what in store for us when he starts playing for Buffalo...then yes, the future looks VERY good.

Finally someone who can score when it's just them and the goalie on the ice.
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

From what I've read, nylander has a long way to go though. I read an article on him right after the draft and it showed most of his assists were secondary assists last year. He was easily pushed off the puck and he needs to bulk up and get in the mucky areas more. Last year was his first north American season, and the game over here is alot different. He needs time to adjust. They want him in rochester next year and while he produced well, he looked over matched in the OHL in terms of toughness and strength last year. I'm not sure the AHL is the best right away (why not the ECHL for a handful of games?)

Basically, the kids got talent. But he needs to bulk up and stop shying away from the front of the net and stop staying to the perimeter. His brother William was much the same way, but eventually began putting it together. Though, the knock on his brother is he's at times lazy and disinterested. Hope Alexander isn't the same.

Either way, with his skill and paired up with who the sabres have, it'll be fine no matter what

Sabres sign Nylander to entry-level deal

Nylander, 18, was the eighth overall pick in the draft from the Mississauga Steelheads in the Ontario Hockey League. In 57 games with the Steelheads, Nylander scored 28 goals and led the OHL in rookie scoring with 75 points. Nylander also scored six goals and registered 12 points in six playoff games for Mississauga. Nylander's performance with the Steelheads was good enough to earn him the honors of OHL Rookie of the Year, as well as the Canadian Hockey League's Rookie of the Year.

Nylander also played with Sweden at the IIHF Under-20 World Junior Championships, where he scored four goals and registered nine points in seven games played. At the Under-18 World Championships, Nylander registered eleven points in seven games, and helped Sweden reach the gold medal game where they lost to Finland.

Nylander will have a plethora of choices on where he could play the 2016-17 season. Nylander could return to Sweden and play professionally in the Swedish Hockey League with Rogle BK. Nylander could return to the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads because he is still on a loan from Rogle. Or, Nylander could join the Sabres organization and play in in Buffalo or in Rochester in the AHL with the Amerks.

A decision on where he will play next year has yet to be made.

The 6' 1" and 178-pound Nylander is the son of former NHL forward, Michael Nylander, and is the younger brother of current Toronto Maple Leafs prospect, William Nylander.
