Somebody on the radio yesterday indicated Vesey told Detroit he 'wanted to be closer to home'. If true, one would think that takes Chicago out of the running.

Well, being young, with money, in new york. Dude is a friend. Imagine he fun you could have.
Like I said, take that news with a grain of salt.
This doesn't make sense. It doesn't matter if he's in NY or Vancouver. During the season he's not going to have time to get home. The only difference it makes is a few extra hours on a plane a couple of times during the off-season. If he's that hell-bent on home, Boston is the only choice.
